Re: Boardwalk Empire
That was an awful episode. Especially the sequence where they're doing the trade. WTF? I can't believe how stupid that was.
I hope it goes out with a bang next Sunday but this last episode was extremely dissapointing.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Not a fan of how that finale ended.
I'm honestly not understanding why they couldn't have done at least 2 more episodes. This one felt so rushed.

- Historically speaking, the man Nucky is based off of lived into old age.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
It did feel rushed and I think HBO may have been responsible for it.
The producers knew they were only getting 8 episodes this last season and tried to tie up all the different storylines.

Good series as a whole, won't go down as one of my favorite shows of all time or anything though.. Way too slow for my liking

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Great ending imo, but yeah HBO made this whole season completely rushed to the point where nobody gave a shit about all the bad things that happened really.
One minute all is well next minute you're transported 7 years in the future and nucky is an absolute scrub and everybody allowed some sort of rise in power to just happen

My theory on Owen's death is that Nucky knew about the affair and sent Owen basically on a suicide mission, knowing he would never get close enough to kill Joe Masseria, a tried and true way of getting rid of someone he's betrayed you as well as sending a message to your enemy. The reaction of his wife basically confirmed what he already knew so it will a bit interesting to see how he deals with that.
Gyp Rosetti is a certified sociopath, I think this is all, but confirmed. GOAT character though .....just gets crazier and crazier. I think he will eventually make a move on Masseria though in real life, it was Lucky Luciano who made the move to take him out.
Richard Harrow has been one of the best characters on the show since he first appeared and he's now becoming increasingly important without really even knowing it. Nucky's going to approach him for help sooner or later and being that he's not getting on well with Gillian due to his newfound relationship, this will make it easier.
Still not happy with how marginalized Chalky White has become in this show. He was a big time player in AC in real life and that should've reflected more on the show.
Van Alden's in deep shit now though. I think his arc is very underrated. He's basically a wild card in the whole setup of the show and with him throwing in with Capone, anything can happen to him at this point, but I don't think he'll die.
I researched about most characters, and all I could find on Chalky was that he's fictional?

Re: Boardwalk Empire
another show that's been gone for a few years now..one of the most disappointing shows ever. Cast was INSANE.
Such a lot of wasted potential. It had INSANE highs, like some of the best on TV ever...but far too many boring, low points throughout the seasons. Expected this show to be one of the GOAT but it never lived up to it. Shame.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Half of that could've been resolved with Margaret being killed off instead of Jimmy, and the final season not being so rushed.
Should've utilised Harrow and Slater better too, they were both killers and one spend half the show looking after a kid and the other one flirting with maids and driving Nucky around.

Yeah, pretty much expected this to be Sopranos level after I saw the pilot. Heard a rumor that Jimmy got killed off because Michael Pitt was a dick and insanely hard to work with.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Started watching this show. 5 episodes into season 1.
Great acting, very high production value, and some great characters.
But I feel like it's so slow. Don't get me wrong I like it a lot and will continue to watch but it's extremely slow to the point where the story hasn't moved forward since the pilot.
I want to see more of Nucky vs Arnold Rothstein, more of Al Capone, more of Michael Shannon and I'm *bleep* stuck with the most annoying character Margaret Shroeder for 4 consecutive episodes getting more screen time than everyone else. And they wasted 2 *bleep* episodes on the prostitute who committed suicide for no goddam reason.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
it never really changes tbh, you get some really great storylines throughout the show and you have really shitty, boring ones they waste too much screen-time on. Cast is huge and you may go multiple episodes without seeing some of them. I'd tell you not to bother continuing honestly but there is some of the best TV I've ever seen sprinkled in there. Depends if that's worth it to you.
