Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
He gives away tactical fouls, it's not really a problem he knows what he's doing most the time.
He's like a new man under Klopp. Thriving under playing a manager with a structure.

Tactical fouls, yes, but he also commits some totally unnecessary fouls.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
if I remember correctly, it was Lucas who broke down Chelsea attack and we could build up our attack from that and we got the equaliser. To be honest, we know even Allen would have done few things which Lucas did yesterday.
It is the game intelligence where I would appreciate Lucas, specially closing down the spaces. But what is important is, we need to improve on Lucas definitely or Lucas needs to improve his foul making strategy/skills, also more incisive passing would be great addition.

Lucas, for me, is a surprise package. He used to be very limited in terms of distribution, mostly restricted to sideways passes. This season he has stepped-up a notch. Not that he is regularly spraying defense-splitting passes, but definitely contributing to the build-up.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
I've always rated and loved Lucas, so none of this comes as a surprise to me. David Brent has horrible mismanaged almost every single player on our squad.
Lucas shouldn't have needed to prove himself to anyone after the quality he had shown for multiple years for us but poor guy keeps having to do just that.
Klopp is an intelligent man, saw his quality right away.
For me Lucas is last of our midfielders that needs replacing. I agree he needs competition for the DM spot but certainly not replacing because he can't do the job.

Totally agree mate. Only thing I expect from him is a bit of 'maturity'. Like Art said, he does indulge in unnecessary fouls in sensitive areas. I guess he got a bit of macho blood (like Dunga, Roy Keane) and loves to upend a player or two, time to time.Don't call me James wrote:I've always rated and loved Lucas, so none of this comes as a surprise to me. Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
They're not really "unnecessary" half the time.
He gives away fouls when the opposition are on the counter / are looking dangerous and stops the opposition brilliantly by not getting a yellow card most of the time.
Keep in mind he's playing his natural role for the first time in 3 years too. He's still some what adapting to it so there can be some clumsy tackles from time to time but I haven't seen many since Klopp has been back and he's found some form.
Guy is quality, won't be long before he stamps himself as arguably the best midfielder in the league again.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
After 10 long years, he departs. I remember the bashing he received (including yours truly) during the Goal Forum days. He had chances to move on during his prime years, yet he dug in and showed a sense of loyalty that's so rare in these days.
Farewell Lucas. You will be always in our heart.
