Given medical clearance so expect him to start alongside Mascherano at Celtic Park

Having medical clearance is not equivalent to being match-fit, so maybe not back that early. But hopefully we will see him soon.

True but I suspect he will start over Bartra in what will surely be a cauldron of intensity at Celtic Park

Cesc knows lol

Though, if someone told me I was slower than Busquets that would have to sting my pride.

Seems like Pique just gave a badass press conference, telling Tello and Montoya to shut up or GTFO. Proud

Different cases. Cesc never alluded that he wanted to leave if he didn't get enough playing time. His story has always been that he wants to stay.

The quote was:
Pique wrote:"A Tello y Montoya los entiendo, pero esto es el Barça y las puertas de salida están siempre abiertas cuando alguien quiere salir. Aquí hemos de luchar por una posición y por ganar todos los partidos""

"I understand Tello and Montoya, but this is Barca and the doors are always open to those that want to leave. Here we have to fight for a place and to win all the matches."

Does Pique have to fight for his place?
And if so, why hasn't he lost it?

Tello and Montoya didnt say they WANT to leave either, those two inferred the same thing Cesc did. Not happy with current playing time and want more.

In fact Montoya said, "I've been playing for Barcelona for the last 14 years". "Even though I've still got a few months left on my deal, I hope I'll be able to stay for many more years to come.

"My agents are negotiating with the club, I'm not involved in that, but I'm young and the main thing I want is to keep on playing."

And no Hans, Pique doesnt have to fight for his place.

Puyol is and has been for like 3 years, consistently injured.

Bartra isnt getting chances his talent deserves, and before this season almost nothing.

Mascherano is garbage but he is required (numerically) because we refuse to sign a replacement.

Pique sucked against Sevilla, but did well yesterday. This inconsistency may be exploited by City.

Pique without Puyol does not work well. He needs Puyol to yell at him all the time so he can keep his focus on the hame.

Re: Gerard Pique

Pique doesn't work well no matter what. Unless Barca is dominating like mad with 70 % possession and high pressing. I remember a Spain friendly against Portugal where Spain didn't bother to press. Suddenly Portugal got at the Spain backline with ease and once Pique had to actually do some real defending he got raped badly and Spain conceded 4 goals. 1 week later Barca beat Real Madrid 5-0 and Pique looked like a GOAT. Ronaldo didn't get a sniff at goal.

Barca's defense is collective pressing. Pique himself is Segunda quality at best. Take any centerback in the world and he won't look much worse. Case in point: Mascherano, who isn't even a centerback at all. Robinho outmuscled this clown at the beginning of the season.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Pique win a 1 on 1 in his life against any half-decent striker.

I'm trying really hard to remember but for the life of me, I can't come up with a game against decent opposition where he doesn't look like an utter clown.

He literally throws himself to the ground whenever anyone decent comes near him.

Huge games in which Pique has not sucked:

Champions League final 2009, like a dozen Barça-Madrid, World cup 2010, Champions League Final 2011, Club world cups/supercups, etc., Eurocup 2012, and this season all the games vs. Atletico, the Barça-Madrid and several games in the CL.

Yeah, he is a segunda player.  Laughing
