MJ wrote:Honestly don't care for Henry as a pundit.

Chicharito shouldn't celebrate a semi-final winning goal, Özil disappears in big games (when he was all over the place vs Chelsea & Liverpool recently), we need more than Giroud (rewind a few months ago you'll find him defending Giroud, go back even further, you'll find him tipping Giroud to be a top player, back before he retired).

And maybe worst of all, we shouldn't have signed Alexis - we should have signed Fabregas and benched Özil.

Just glad he decided to speak in front of a camera rather than put those words to action by trying to become Arsenal boss.

Did he really say those two things?? Laughing

Thought everyone loved him as a pundit until last night when I saw twitter going crazy over comments he made.

Higaun is Giroud Part 2, poacher kind of player without great technical skils, link-up play or those magical goals.

not sure if serious .
Higuain has all the above .

not to mention that Giroud has great link up play himself .

Henry just proves for the millionth time that just because you were a good player it doesn't make you an expert pundit/coach

Giroud is mediocre to decent in build-up play. Does not have the skills elite ST like Aguero or Suarez has.

Higuain having technical skills, dribbling ability, fast pace, great link-up ability is a huge joke IMO. He is only great in and around the Penalty Box IMO. I would never put him anywhere in the league of Aguero or Suarez.

Hell Benzema has great link-up ability but even he has lesser pace, dribbling ability, skills and the ability to score magical goals vis-a-vis guys like Aguero/Suarez, and Benzema is much better in link-up and allround footballing ability than Higuain.

Just as everybody, Henry can make a stupid commentary from time to time. I don't get the big deal.

Could be that Henry is a little nervous about punditry still and is saying too much and things that he doesn't necessarily mean if he's worried about not saying enough or not being interesting enough. Apparently he's said some pretty dumb stuff, though.

Yeah. He was criticized for being too boring and fence-sitting for a couple of months, I wouldn't be surprised if he had it whispered in his ear that he should speak up and take a stand more often, get controversial and get Sky dem clicks and views.

I remember when everyone criticized Shearer Proud

Henry has been shite though, but pretty much all pundits in football are. I don't like any of them tbh.

Apart from Martin Keown, Vialli, Seedorf and neville, I don't like anyone. Some are hit or miss but most goes with the popular opinion rather than their own. Scholes is a great example. He is atrocious who only says things he sees on social media. Like De Gea being the best GK in the world.

Seedorf is good I agree.

Not sure about Keown though, especially after his comments " Sagna is better than Debuchy because he's more of a man ".

What super elite skills are these you talk of? Can he not muster a super kamehameha like Suarez or Aguero can?

Yes most pundits former football players aren't good because they say so much banality. On the other hand it's enough to listen the players' inteviews, nothing more boring or insignificant.
Sky Italy has basically only former players as pundits too and I can notice this .
Paolo Di Canio is a GOAT pundit though.

Can't wait for Sergio Ramos to become pundit.

Sergio Ramos slipped up on Social networks this Monday when he congratulated Spain's women's water polo team for the gold medal it won almost a month ago at the World Championships in Barcelona: "Time to rest after watching the women's water polo team win. Congratulations girls!"

In the run-up to Real Madrid's league match against Granada, the Spanish international defender was in the team's hotel watching a repeat of the final against Australia (8-6) being broadcast on Teledeporte.

Sergio Ramos as pundit in 2022: "I want to congratulate my former team Real Madrid for achieving La Decima. They've finally done it!"

Is there a better header of the ball in the league? It's almost like he's better with his head than with his feet

I don't see it. They may be stronger, but they're definitely not as accurate

Btw don't talk to me about Benteke and heading after his fail attempt at marking Mertesacker in the FA Cup final

Carroll's heading is overrated for me, the guy is just really tall. I'd love to see the stats on how many goals he's actually scored or assisted with his head. I bet they aren't as many as people would have thought.

Fair point, I just feel his heading ability is a lot more down to him being so tall rather than being brilliant in the air but that's imo
