Its ridiculous that a club like Valencia who have done squat in CL in the last few years are placed in Pot 2 mainly based on their EL perfomances.
This really is so flawed.

You (I think) wanted Juventus to be in pot 1 because they won the league while done shit in Europe for the last six years :vagi:

I don't see how it is ridiculous to be honest. Europe is not just the UCL alone and the European rankings take in consideration what a club has done in both the UCL and Europa. It's not perfect but it's the more "fair" option right now.
Of course, until something better comes along...

I dont really care about co-efficient points but CL pots should not be decided by EL perfomances. Its utter nonsense.
A club like Ajax ,who hadnt seen the CL for ages..Only in the last two years have they qualified for the tournament proper. And they're placed in Pot 2 for two consecutive 3rd place finishes

A fan of a team who would've been pot 2 (if Chelsea hadn't won CL) despite doing nothing in Europe in past few years complains about teams who've performed in Europe recently. Also sounds quite similar to people being butthurt about Germany getting a CL place at Italy's expense.
Sorry, don't buy it.
What about Nodjælland? They're only guaranteed a group spot because of Kopenhagen's hard work (who have to go through qualifying stages)
In an ideal world Ajax would be the 2nd to last rated team in the group stages - it's just of the 34 teams who are rated higher in the past 5 years than Ajax 15 qualified and there are still 2 teams left in the qualifying rounds who will displace Ajax into Pot 3.
2 3rd place finishes and some EL games is a lot more than Juventus has done überhaupt and perfectly matches their borderline Pot 2/3 status.
I hate to take this stance but just pointing a few things out to you.
The only realistic alternative is seeding via league position etc. but how do you seed non-champions vs champions of "weaker" leagues?

Yes and i am awaiting another Group Stage exit.
And you'd still manage to be seeded 9th or 10th next year

you know what's worse than a group stage exit?
not even qualifying for the competition for two years
you know what's even worse than not qualifying for the competition for two years?
bitching about teams that qualified for the competition because you feel entitled to preferential treatment due to events that happened 10 years ago

European rankings are determined by a point system based on both Europa and UCL results. You may not care about co-efficient points but it determines where a club is placed when it comes to seeding and quite frankly, it is as fair of a system as one can get. I do feel this has to more to do with Juventus being in pot 3 than anything honestly...

Re: Champions League 2012-2013 - Draw Live!
Havent even mentioned Juventus in this thread
But i simply dont think EL perfomances should dictate CL seeding.
Funny thing is if a team like Valencia for example get knocked out in the groups and manage to reach atleast a semi in the EL ,there's a chance of Valencia even finding themselves in Pot 1.That is so wrong.
If EL perfomances hold such a huge meaning in CL terms why isnt the winner of EL given a spot in the subsequent CL then ?

Because based on who actually qualified, Man City just happened to be ranked to be chosen in pot 2. Also, see website for further details...
