I think Franck needs Philipp back on his side, to be stronger again...

He have to improve next year, to get back to where he was 2 years ago

He should improve with Lahm. I remember what a great partnership they had when Franck arrived.

What I'm worried about is Rafinha or whoever performing like Lahm, on the other flank so Robben can do his magic, too.

Robben will stand his man, with or without Lahm, i think

Rafinha should oriented the run-ways lahm have taken on the right...

as for now i see rafinha as a lower version of Lahm till he proves me wrong What a Face

Anyone is a lower version of Lahm, unless he cloned himself Smile

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too. Rafinha needs to learn to stick to the line so that Robben can cut in as always, and he adds some width to the attack. I think he's left footed, so he can do the opposite and shoot for goal in case Robben goes wide.

He was supposedly great in Schalke, but I did not watch Schalke games back then. We'll see.

Personally I thing Rafinha is a very skillful player and he should have no problem linking with Robben and Gomez when going forward, what we should be worry about is his defensive laps, lets hope he improves defensively

Re: #7 - Franck Ribéry

Post by Sushi Master on Fri Jan 06, 2012 2:32 pm

Franck Ribery recalls his early days where he had to struggle at every step to realize his dream of becoming a footballer. The 28 year old believes that there is no substitute for hard work and life’s lessons can be gathered in any field.

“Success doesn’t come easy at least I haven’t seen it happen without hard work and determination. There was a time when it seemed that my football adventure was over. I had to shift temporarily into construction and that meant digging, putting in lines, making holes and closing them. But even there, I worked hard and learnt a lot from helping my father,” Ribery wrote in his column for the Hindustan Times.

“I got back to football when FC Metz offered my first professional contract in 2004. I played brilliantly for them and was sent to Istanbul, where I was part of the team that won the Turkish Cup with Galatasaray,” he reminisced.

Having won several accolades in his career so far, Ribery states that his ‘never say die’ attitude in life has aided him in overcoming the obstacles on the road to success.

“My childhood was not spent with a silver spoon in my mouth. I grew up in the French working-class city of Boulogne-sur-Mer on the English Channel, and I learnt to live with these problems, including a scar on my face from an unfortunate accident. I faced a lot of taunts but I always answered them with boldness,” he mentioned.

“As a teenager I was already bouncing around with smaller clubs. My stint with Galatasaray, however, didn’t last long and it was finally in 2005-06 that I reached stable ground after getting a breakthrough with Olympique Marseille.”

The French international, who was praised by the legendary Zinedine Zidane as the “jewel of French football”, spoke of his delight having had the opportunity to play with the former Real Madrid star.

“It was an honour to play with the great Zinedine Zidane and take France to second place in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany,” he said.

“It took many years to realise some of my cherished dreams, but I wish to tell my young friends in India that I never gave up hope.”

Ribery as a false 9 this year?

Post by sportsczy on Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:35 am

Could happen it looks like since Lewandowski is not coming and it looks like Pep wants Goetze to play more like Iniesta on the left. It would allow Kroos, Goetze, Mueller and Ribery to all play at the same time. Not sure what it does for Robben though lol.

I personally don't like it. Ribery is not a natural scorer and he's obviously not as skilled as Messi. But what do i know.

I don't think Pep will introduce this false 9 idea to Bayern. He didn't even intend to do it at Barca. Messi pretty much forced it on him.

It's being reported everywhere though... even l'Equipe mentioned that Ribery was approached by Pep about the idea and Ribery played that role in the 2nd practice session yesterday.

Doesn't make much sense to me though. He bought Ibrahimovic and then he went 3-4-3 putting Alexis Sanchez as a true 9 infront of Messi in his last season at Barca. Doesn't look like a man who is a false 9 fetishist. In an interview he once said that Kluivert would be his ideal man upfront. I will believe Ribery as a false 9 when I see it.

I, too, don't think he would work as false 9 quite honestly. His finishing isn't that good enough as stated and his best attributes are his pace and dribbling skills which would be utilized to their fullest only on the flanks. Gotze, Mandzukic and Muller would be better false 9s.. Muller especially.

I also thought of Kluivert as a bit of a flop though, others I think suggests otherwise? Was he really that good?
