He was angry over the penalty.

''I don't celebrate second place,'' Buffon said after Thursday's match. ''I was angry, because we should have avoided those last five minutes of sufferance. We need to be mature. Football is a game, but when you reach the semifinals of a European Championship it's not a game any more.'

Ah then I think its justified. He has higher expectations for Italy while the Italy team was going crazy.

He was super pissed off at the last few minutes in which he felt Italy made two many mistakes. In his words Germany could have got a lucky deflection and equalised, and Italy could of gone on and lost 9-2 in extra time.

He really wanted that clean sheet.

His anger is justified imo. Italy wasted too many chances up front in the last 15 minutes and they almost paid for it.

But he celebrated with his team when Italy beat England, and they had even more chances hmm

I read a statement of Buffon that he was angry because the younger players (including Marchisio and his miss in second half ) didnt understand the meaning of playing such an important games

And I think he's right. Even aside from the penalty, we were taking too many risks, giving up the ball way too easily and making mistakes in our positioning. Not to mention the offsides and missed chances (Di Natale, Marchisio, Balzaretti).

You know, when Buffon disappeared just before the penalty shootout in the quarter final, my first thought was "I bet he placed a bet on himself to save at least one pen" Razz
