He's also out for 7 months with a cruciate ligament injury anyway.

Montoya will play, he is not too bad, better then alba defensively and the first leg, I have a feeling PSG will park the buss considering they do not have Ibrahimovic, we'll get scored on either way and hopefully this match upwe'll score an away goal.

Oh yeah I agree, for sure. In time, I think he will be a excellent leftback, I would be really surprised if he didnt make it.

He is quick, can use both feet and can actually tackle.

If you add in all the other stuff you typically expect from a Barca youth team player (composure, neat passing etc)...should be a fine player in a few years.

Great time for Montoya to step up to the occasion. I felt like he never had much playing time but hopefully this will be a good occasion for him. Planas as a sub for sure...

Montoya is fine at LB.

If he doesn't play we could possibly see Abidal play, but no need to rush him, I'd rather it be Muniesa who plays LB well and is much better than Planas.

Alba only has an elongation which it's almost a non injury. He'll play vs Psg.

Same injury, other leg.

Better him than Adriano for a change honestly, but of course we do need him back because we have noone else.

Not happy because I still can't trust Adriano to stay injury free that long. However, he has been alright so far...let's see if he can keep it up.

Nice. It's been a decent season for him, although I reckon there's still room for improvement.

idk if adriano has been so bad but whenever alba doesn't play we see a huge difference in the left side.
he has been great this season. all we really need is a good sub for him.

Adriano's been atrocious this season. IDK what happened to him. Used to be a valuable squad player in the previous seasons but right now he looks unbelievably amateurish. I believe he's on his way out this summer... or at least I hope so. I respect him but he's not good enough anymore, not even as a substitute.

I think he's the least loved player in our squad, but I rarely have reason to complain about him anymore.

I still complain about his composure with the ball, decision making, choice of pass and patience.

Maybe its because Abidal was so great at all of those things. Other than his defensive skills, that what I miss most and its a close second. He has underrated composure on the ball, especially his last couple real seasons.

Even against Bilbao where Alba did nothing especially wrong, he managed to annoy me because he loves to kick balls forward creating 50-50's when a different player would control it and look for an inside pass.

He will do, clearly the defence can manage with him in it at the moment but im really hoping for a new leftback to serious challenge him, so then I can complain when he isnt getting playing time over him.

He deserves he's new contract though he may not be scoring machine, but I think playing the defense position, he was able to do it.

He was much better this season and he proved me wrong that him and Alves cant work together as they both venture too much into attack, leaving us exposed at the back. Perhaps it was just a matter of better pressing and the complete defensive set-up of the team that is allowing this combo (is it just me or is our defensive line not so high anymore?).

Ideally I wouldn't want him. For starters he's way too short and so is the left centerback Mascherano which makes it worse. I'm actually amazed this hasn't been exposed at all this season with crosses from the left to the far post where a tall striker would have it super easy to win every single aerial duel and either directly score from it or lay the ball off for runners from midfield.

His lack of composure I agree with Franchise. He always looks in a hurry. Be it building from the back or with his final ball. A lot of hopeful smash and grab crosses.

I also wish he would score more. Can hardly fault a fullback in that regard but for a fullback who has his strengths more in attack than defense 1 goal and 3 assists is a bit underwhelming with all the quality Messi diagonals and over the top passes going his way.

He also doesn't have any noteworthy chemistry with Nerman like Messi and Alves do.

Having said all of that. I don't see who could realistically do better. The fullback market is underwhelming at the moment. Filipe Luis would have been a dream in recent years but God knows what level he is at right now after riding the Chelsea bench for a year.

Ricardo Rodriguez. Amazing left back imo.

Completely forgot about him. Would definitely be worth considering. At least to replace Adriano and then see who does better. But I haven't heard about a single rumour linking Barca to any leftbacks. Sad

Another is Alex Sandro. All the talk about Danilo was well worth it because we needed a right back, but Sandro has performed better for Porto since he has been there.

Again, like said no links to any leftback.

I cant believe what has happened to Luis, what a quality player...totally wasted, sitting around doing nothing at Chelsea. I obviously cant help but forget how good he was, but like Futbol I have no idea what level he would be at now he has sat on the bench for so long. Plus Chelsea just love making great players dead wood so I dont think they would have any interest in letting him go anyway, unless someone is silly enough to pay more than what they paid.

Still remember Felipe was heavily linked with us in 2009 and could end up here if we would have offered a few millions more. The guy really wanted to come. what a buy that would have been.

Jordi is a great fullback. Up and down the whole game and is a great teammate to have in the locker room. I hope he retires at Barca.
