Re: The New Bernabeu
Thx dude
that calatrava guy did some amazing things. If we are lucky enough to have him work for us, it cant go wrong.
Nice to see he is already working with round shapes and excelling at it.

Re: The New Bernabeu
I went on his website and he did some incredible things, if you have time, check it out.
I think the most difficult thing for our project, is working with an existing structure that will be the base of any modification. It's a restriction but if we can get our stadium to look like futuristic cocoon, it can be amazing.

Re: The New Bernabeu
Caltrava would be great, I'm slightly against wasteful design but he is a creator of beauty. Pei would be better but he's 90+ last time I checked and he is prolly just mentioned because he's the master.
Very cool that the work is finally starting, I may not like Flo but one cannot deny that in a business sense he gets things done! Well done on this sir...

I hope they don't change it too much as far as appearance.
Just clean it up so it looks new rather than just change the whole thing.

THIS is what I want. Clean it up, renovate whatever, add seats, but no bloody hotels or shopping complexes! This is Real Madrid, not Chelsea!

Re: The New Bernabeu
Chelsea don't really have anything to do with it bro.
My only issue is that they don't lose the Stadium's iconic look. If they can keep it's identity while still enhancing it I'll be a happy camper.

Re: The New Bernabeu
Madrid as a city has also become a big destination for contemporary architecture. Here's what has come up in the past couple years/is coming up:
http://www.e-architect.co.uk/madrid/madrid_architecture.htm
Some to note:
Barajas Airport Terminal 4, Richard Rogers:

Cultural Center Pozuelo de Alarcón, FUNDC:

Torre Caja Building, Foster + Partners:

Campus de la Justicia, Zaha Hadid:

Hotel Puerta America, Various (this is really cool, I stay here whenever I got to Madrid. Each floor is done by a different designer, from Jean Nouvel, to Zaha Hadid, to Norman Foster):

Based on what has been coming up in the city, you can bet the Bernabeu will be extremely contemporary.

Re: The New Bernabeu
According to AS, the model that will be presented to be socios will be that of the Allianz Arena.... I'm not sure i like the idea, Santiago Bernabeu must be unique, not poor's man Allianz Arena. We do not know for sure that it will be as represented, but this is what they will show the socios to illustrate the remodel. I hope it ends up being something more original.
They talked about making the Bernabeu an architectural landmark for the city, well, this isnt it

Well Pei is 94 but apparently he's still designing, I would rather have him design it, He creates world landmarks, adds that touch of class... I agree with Nick that's a bit too Flash and not OG enough...

Re: The New Bernabeu
It's better version of Allianz Arena... amazing architecture. The great thing about it is that you can reskin the stadium at will almost to keep it modern. That's why i think it's a great design.

I think it looks amazing, taking inspiration from Allianz of course but taking it a step further and making it even more beautiful.

LED lights will be greatly needed lol...
Anyways I don't like that Allianz Arena look at all, our stadium should not look like any other... I would prefer some tuning up rather than a full blown design assault

Re: The New Bernabeu
You guys like it?
Z, they talked about building a whole system of Solar Panels to support the stadium and generate power during the games. the energy will be commercialized when we arent playing.

Really? Idk, Calatrava tends to be very flash and often tends to ignore surrounding architecture. He very much wants to put his stamp on a city. Master Pei takes a more holistic approach, He takes all things into consideration and then gives you something that transcends the style of the time. He looks to meet the vision of the people...
I like the idea of going solar to power the flash (If that's the direction we choose to go in). It's important to make the statement that we are not just here to be a mere football club and a responsible global actor...

I don't like it so much, it's too much Allianz Arena... We are Real Madrid and we should be unique. Still a upgrade though.

you can use the same architecture style and still make it very unique... in fact, i'm sure it will be very unique.

That one looks very fine, something even better will be fitting for us though. I kinda support it if its very beautiful and a total renovation, not like those horrible pictures Marca gave us.

I think i was expecting something very different from that model.
It does look pretty sick, just would have liked to be the only one with such stadium

I don't know I just liked Calatrava's designs better... They looked more complex, complex isn't always better but it shows skill
