Thumbs up

Really? Idk, Calatrava tends to be very flash and often tends to ignore surrounding architecture. He very much wants to put his stamp on a city. Master Pei takes a more holistic approach, He takes all things into consideration and then gives you something that transcends the style of the time. He looks to meet the vision of the people...

I like the idea of going solar to power the flash (If that's the direction we choose to go in). It's important to make the statement that we are not just here to be a mere football club and a responsible global actor...

I don't know I just liked Calatrava's designs better... They looked more complex, complex isn't always better but it shows skill

And the complaints of light pollution.

The neighbors to the Bernabeu will need to use WWII-esque blackout curtains.

From another forum

Actually the club is expected to install solar panels in the deck that overlooks the street Padre Damien that will allow the stadium to be self-sufficient on match days by generating energy to save the costs involved in opening the stadium. The energy generated on the days with no first team matches will be marketed and profited by the club.

And as I mentioned above the club will build new luxury mall with restaurants, luxury shops, a hotel and a public underground car parking lot under Castellana for more than the 1,500 people who will work there, and two new plazas, one along the Castellana and the other on the corner of Concha Espina and Padre Damián, as well as a new entertainment areas for children (one in the current Bernabeu Corner) and a gathering places for Madridista and regular citizens. .

The club believes that this project will generate up to €100 million annually in revenue, so the project financing is guaranteed from day one.

The lights in these types of structures also don't stay on 24/7. Usually they turn them on at nightfall and off by midnight.

So... the plan is done? From that artist impression? What happened to getting a great architect?

Also, Flo said it would be an 'enveloping skin'. Just that? I thought it was an extensive remodelling of the whole stadium, with shops and stuff.

That piece about the architects was extracted from a different source, no way to confirm if it was true. We just ran with the idea...

There is a remodeling of the stadium itself, increased capacity, re-mapping of the seats arrangement, the new retractable roof, a whole new exterior facade.

And there is the remodeling of the area around the stadium, i think that is what you are asking about. The area around the stadium will transform.

I know, I assume the shops and whatever will be made around the stadium then the skin wrapped around that, so it is one cohesive thing. The skin is supposed to be a 'partial roof' over all seats, didnt hear anything about any retractable roof.

Seats will increase by 10,000. I want them to make it bigger than the Camp Nou, so it will be officially the biggest. Why not just take it to 100k and be done with it... Very Happy

I think they could take it to 100k but it would prob be cramped and uncomfortable, 10,000 is prob including restructuring as well, making for a better overall experience Smile

I dunno about you guys, but I don't like the proposed design very much, it looks like poor man's Allianz Arena. I want something more original.

The Allianz isn't impressive when you see it on a screen but it's an unforgettable experience when you see it in person.

I agree that the new design doesn't really look that nice but I'm sure that in person it's going to be impressive as f*ck.
