RG, I was just going to post this.

The Most goal for Argentina is wrong though. Messi's at 45, need 9 more which he should easily get in the next year. Messi and Aguero, #1 & 2 as Top goalscorers for Argentina when it is all said and done Proud

Yeah he's not Argentina's top scorer, and if we only count non-friendly matches then I think he's way off. But he'll have 2 copa americas, 1 WC qualifier and 1 WC in the next 4 years so he'll have plenty of time to beat that too...

Self delusion...AGAIN!!!God knows where u fish out clueless stats from, Infact i doubt if you knows what those mean even. Thought messi only scored 5 wc goals and 2 copa america goals?..anything to make messi relevant at this point.

Pretty sure the qualifiers would count as competitive matches and explain the difference.

You keep talking about how Pele has fake stats because of friendlies, but look at all the matches Messi scored against us.3 of them against our u23 team...how about you put how many goals he scored against us in official games Laughing

or maybe you should start posting real stats because out of the top of my head,he only scored 4 times against us, that hattrick on our olympic team and that 1-0 goal in Doha.

Not saying this to hate on Messi btw

The relation is to own team performance, or the team edge, so the opposition doesn't matter. Messi scoring 5 of 8 team goals against Brazil, is more impressive than Pele scoring 8 out of 18 goals against Argentina. In a rational world that is.

Hmm yes not sure where those extra 5 goals came from. He only scored twice in the olympics if we're counting those, so that still leaves 3 unaccounted for.

wikipedia has a detailed list of all Messi international goals and there it's 21 in competitive games.
No Olympics included in that list.
