I have played and finished the previous two games in the series and I had great expectations for this one and I even bought into the hype. I must say that not only did it fulfilled my expectations, but it has left my brain with a giant hole as a result of the massive mindf$#k I have received from it. I have to say that when I first saw Columbia, I nearly cried myself to sleep over its beauty and the Lutece twins should have a movie made around them and the world. Not only it was insanely fun to play it was like I was watching a truly great movie, too. I would love to see a Bioshock Infinite movie, just keep Uwe Boll at least 1000 lightyears from it.

Am I the only one excited for the DLC?

Remember Minerva's Den DLC turned out better than the actual game in BioShock 2. Rapture at it's prime with Booker and Elizabeth, my body is fckin ready.

Wow.

Definitely worth the wait, the story was insanely gripping and really pulled me in the further i got into it, i haven't enjoyed the story like that in a VERY VERY long time.

Really liked the whole mechanic between Booker and Elizabeth story and gameplay wise.

Speaking of the gameplay, it was a lot better than Bioshock IMO and the combat is much improved. Really enjoyed the varied weapons and upgrades you can buy to improve them.

The vigors were well varied and i found myself using most of them with regularity for different situations which i couldn't really say with the original Bioshock as i whored out the Winter blast plasmid the entire time Laughing

The handyman battles were a lot more dynamic and challenging than the big daddies.... want to fight me on the ground? i'll jump on you and instantly destroy your shield.... want to use the skyhook and skyline for height? f*ck you i'll electrocute you.

Speaking of the skyhook mechanic, i really enjoyed that as well added a lot to the gameplay and was fun flying around the city.

There was some slight negatives though, i don't think Comstock was anywhere near as interesting or engrossing as Andrew Ryan.

Which is the main reason i had the original Bioshock and Infinite on an even footing for most of the game despite Infinite's gameplay improvements but the last few hours when you start to see the story coming together and understanding it all tipped it over the edge.

Absolutely fantastic and dare i say a work of art, if only there were more games like this.

Re: Bioshock: Infinite

Post by Arquitescu on Thu Oct 03, 2013 5:47 am

So after a stop-start interval session of Bioshock, I have finally finished the game.

Definitely better than 1 & 2 to which I began to lose a semblance of interest due to the very "gamey" design they had implemented within them. The first parts never fully utilized the claustrophobic environment and the sensation of being underwater in a city. Their story also rarely progressed past their Ayn Rand takes on Americanism etc etc.

Infinite quite simply had the best beginning in the history of games. Right from the lighthouse onto the point of where the violence begins, I have never been as immersed into a video game's structure and design as I had with the beginning to which was of impeccable production value and creativity.

The gameplay itself actually did not get repetitive compared to the previous instalments. The freedom of choice afforded to you in utilizing your plasmids with the weapons were of balanced choice and execution. I do wish they exploited more of Columbia along with exploiting further into the city before the civilians cleared the streets. Too often I resorted to Voxophones in extracting an exhibition of the city along with having a feeling that there is much more to be explored. Characters were outstanding. Elizabeth one of the best female characters since that woman from Half Life 2. DeWitt and his voice actor with a stunning performance in one of the most resonant combinations of voice to character, in which provided a superb element of personality and range.

Handymen were far better than the Big Daddy. Whether it regards in battling against them (to which gets your heart-pounding) or the character design to which I was hoping would have more backstory and exhibition to them.

Story the obvious strength of the game in all its ambition and execution. Ending left my perplexed with my own theories and hypothetical on its interpretation, as the post-credit scene rounded up the summary of how well the writers had immersed me within their creative grasp.

I never review games let alone even get the chance to play them, hence why I cannot summarize on the depth and brilliance of this game. It represents a new breakthrough in how video games are slowly surpassing movies due a element of production value which has harvested on latent creativities of the most ambitious of writers. Finally video games aren't just about mindless button mashing, but thought provoking masterful works of art. And this is why Infinite will stand out over FPS with better graphics or gameplay, due to the depth of range involved in how it has been conjured and harnessed into all its potential.

Usually worry how much time I waste while playing VGs yet with this not a second was wasted due to the experience of playing it itself.

Basically its an FPS which has an emphasis on storyline and the immersive factor. Its not in the same mould as BF or CoD, an example would be kinda like Half Life or maybe even Metro

On topic: TROY BAKER IS THE BEST F*CKING VOICE ACTOR IN THE WORLD

I absolutely loved him as Kanji in Persona 4, and seeing him in Bioshock made me wet myself
He also did Joel from The Last of Us, he's easily the best male voice actor in games, in my opinion.

Arq: You should review games more often. You're putting the people who do it for a living, to shame Razz

Episode Two of Burial at Sea will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on March 25th.

The second episode comes built almost entirely from scratch by Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite. The narrative of this add-on content pack concludes the storyline of BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea, as seen through the eyes of a new player character, Elizabeth, and features all-new stealth-oriented gameplay, as well as new weapons and modes.

In Burial at Sea – Episode Two, we are delivering a story that involves nearly every major character from the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite, It is a story that will give gamers a new perspective on the BioShock universe and conclude the story of BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea.

WANT.

Part 1 is already out as shown by M99s post above, but if like me you were waiting for part 2 so you can experience it all at once.

Part 1 is overpriced for 3 hours. Glad they made Pat 2 bigger, might get this later.

Finished the game, despite the good script, the ending was lacking and a head schratcher. Also did not like how the game was dragging itself along. 5/10.

Now that you finished it how difficult did you find the Lady Comstock in the graveyard part?

It *bleep* pissed me off Laughing and the Bank part was pretty easy tbh.

Didn't find it difficult at all. Found the bank harder than the graveyard. I died like 5 times in the bank bit but only once in the graveyard. There were way too many cover spots in the graveyard.

1) Used Sender vigor to deflect bullets
2) Headshot lady comcast via sniper
3) Request flying mosquito via Elizabeth which was right above lady comcast
4) job done

I knew this game would be one of RG's favorites considering his love of multiverse, parallel physics, quantum whatever.

Make sure to play Burial At Sea.

The moment I saw the old Elizabeth showing me 1982, I was like...this is it. We are in for some mind *bleep* in the end Proud Wasn't disappointed.

reminds me a bit of the film coherence which is a great film.

Heard Burial at Sea is in rapture so will definitely play that.

There was an article on Giant Bomb which was the best article on the ending I read. But I can't find it now.

This is pretty comprehensive though: http://www.ign.com/wikis/bioshock-infinite/The_Ending_-_An_Explanation

It's such a shame that Ken Levine won't produce another Bioshock game. I read that several of his staff members thought he was a sociopathic dictator, but a Bioshock game without him is not a Bioshock game Mad
