Because on a day when we fashioned 30-odd shots and the opposing keeper made more than 10 saves, a player who's been less clinical than all of our current strikers certainly would have been the answer.

I give up now. bring on july and the usual pre-season optimism again.

at least for a few weeks....

but BR CAN NOT moan about money etc.....when he spent so much money last summer. yes, our owners don't care (have they even been to a game this year?) but we MUST be doing better.

next season, there will be no excuses.

still hoping either Roman or a filthy rich Arab buys us Proud

Just said that today the players who were on the pitch were the right ones drunken

But I'd like Carroll as an option to have, a rather unique with his ability, used rightly - not too much and not too little - I'm sure he'd help us to some more points.

Carroll will never play for Liverpool again. He's as good as gone and he wasn't going to do anything to help us get the 3 points last night.

Arquitecto wrote:Awful game by us and even worse than the previous draw. I know all the hopefuls will just praise McCarthy for his Goalkeeping heroics yet that does not excuse us for our pathetic finishing. Our play as a whole looked dire and without any guile. Same pass and move channels exploiting the same repertoire of tricks which made us look predictable and utterly bereft of ideas. Rodgers needs to learn how to actually CHANGE the game with subs rather than going for the same inductive changes that end up making incidental changes.

It didn't help when Gerrard and Coutinho were our only notable players doing something. Suarez has been poor the last 2 games and it doesn't help that Rodgers's and Tabarez love to run him to the ground for 90 mins without rest. Sturridge needs to learn how to finish and use his other god damn foot.

And any genius who tells me Downing adds "Balance" and is brilliant in "tracking back" can piss off because I am sick of watching this worthless player with his same one-footed bag of tricks ruining our players with his hit and hope trash. Atrocious player.

If that was a dig at me, let me tell you that I've never said Downing adds balance to the side or whatsoever. It's just that he's a good option to use against tougher teams as he can INDEED track back (having started his career as a wing-back at M'boro) and was having decent run of form and that's why he is getting chances. I'm tired of saying this, but you can't expect to not give chances to someone when he's playing good (irrespective of how shit he had been previously) and is deserving.. this ain't some game, but the way of life. However, yesterday, there was no reason to bring on Downing. But then again, there was no other player who could've been brought on. Assaidi has been poor as a sub, in EPL atleast and his debut game against Norwich is a prime example. Tries too many tricks, haphazard passes, dwells on the ball too much. That's not necessarily a bad thing to do but when you're coming on as a sub, you're meant to fasten things up. Suso isn't a decent finisher. Shelvey hasn't had a first team game since almost two months now and more often than not he messes up his shots. Sterling could've come on but wasn't included in the squad due a thigh injury.

There was no dig at you mate.

My comment (and I'm sure Arq's was too) was directed to EVERY Liverpool fan out there saying he was playing well and helping the team. They also stated that he helps "balance" the wing play of the team. Which is untrue. He's merely a passenger in the squad.

He may be playing well to HIS standards, but his standards is not Liverpool's.

We play better when he's not on the pitch. And I have more faith in Shelvey scoring than Downing... but maybe that's just me. Shelvey would atleast make more sense as he would of kept the 3 man midfield going. And as bad as he's rated on RAWK/on here, he's not that bad of a player. I actually rate him as the second best prospect at the club after Sterling...

I'm a big Shelvey fanboy (like him more than Sterling, Suso) and was very very impressed with his performances last season. However, recently he has had a bad patch of form and there's no denying that.

Speaking of Sterling, Brendan should hand him a start or a couple of good sub appearances in our final games.

He's injured and out for the season.
