Perhaps JD but I'm fairly confident they are smart enough to do so without damaging Abidals prospects.

For example, "Abidal is still a great player, but we already have many options in his positions and we are perhaps looking into adding another. Abidal will need time on the field to progress which we are unable to give him".

I dunno something like that.

Maybe dani they can but feel its not easy and decide its best not to say anything much.
