Liverpool v West Brom
Well, Steve Clarke's Albion haven't started the season quite as brilliantly as the previous one, but are on a five-game unbeaten streak that includes a victory over Manchester United and a draw against Arsenal.
Their defence has been one of the best in the league, conceding just six in eight matches. Still, we've got some key players coming back to full fitness and we should be expecting a win, although this could be a hard-fought encounter.
If we continue with three at the back I'd play
Migno
Toure - Skrtel - Agger
Johnson - Henderson - Gerrard - Enrique
Suarez
Sturridge - Moses
And make it damn clear to everyone that they have to work harder than in the Newcastle game!

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
i hate them...from last 3 games we couldnt win against them, BR must find a formula for such an opponent. I dont care if we lose against Arsenal but win this one. This game for me will be one of the thing which will separate us from top 4 and hanging just below that.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
anyways BR has confirmed cou is out so either play Hendo up in CAM or play luis alberto. I would go with 4-3-3 OR 4-2-3-1 to surprise them, because clarke will come with a mster plan for 3-4-1-2

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
What I want: Mignolet; Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Cissokho; Gerrard, Lucas, Alberto; Moses, Sturridge, Suarez.
What we'll mostly likely see is the same line-up we had vs Newcastle with Lucas replacing Henderson.

We need to kill this game off, a 4-0 win would sit well in my books, need to get more lethal in the 2nd half of games. Suarez scoring 4 goals would go down well.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
Im out of words to describe Suarez, Sturridge just wont stop being selfish until he gets that goal.
Excellent performance, Hopefully Gleninho is ok for next week. Coutinho pls.
I noticed how the strikers took Skrtel and Toure so deep.
Also f*ck all penalty :S

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
Skrtel had a decent individual performance. But took the defense so far back that if this was any good team we'd be hurt badly.
Cissokho disappointed me a lot today. He pulled out of so many challenges it wasn't even funny. And had a pretty shite game.
Henderson made so many poor passes and touches but ran his arse off.
Sturridge was poor in the first but improved massively in the second.
Otherwise everyone else did well. Lucas and Suarez were brilliant.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
I think we need Agger back in the defence. Still haven't kept a clean sheet since he's been out. He's more suited to playing as a covering CB in a 3 man defence.
The wing backs didn't play particularly well. Cissokho seemed really slow and not great on the ball. Also he stayed down when the ball hit him in the face. Man up.
Lucas was better but not "brilliant". I could see Rodgers shouting to him quite a few times about his positioning. West Brom didn't really try to threaten in that area, should have used more runners through the middle.
Suarez and Sturridge are unreal. Best partnership in the league, no question. Suarez is joint 2nd in the scoring charts already. 6 in 4 league games after being out for so long. What a player.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
Suarez was unplayable. Too bad he'll be gone by next season...
Great to get a convincing win, takes the pressure off a little bit going to the Emirates next week.
A goal from midfield would be nice for a change, lulz.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
Lucas' best game of the season. The midfield was a lot more balanced having Henderson in behind strikers ahead of Moses (no shock, a proper midfielder). Henderson's pressing was really useful.
Thought our fullbacks were wasteful...The defense was good but WAY TOO DEEP (Skrtel effect). A few times WBA easily got the ball to our back with Anichibe holding the ball, better teams will punish that. But I guess we'll consist with playing deep next week trying to hit Arsenal on the counter attack.
Gerrard had one of his better games of the season as well. All in all, best game so far

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
So, some clarification: The match I bought a ticket for is the Fulham match on Nov 9th. Not sure why I posted in this thread and said it was for this match, must have been half asleep or something. Anyway, I tried to separate those posts and move them to the Community thread but now they seem to have been lost to internet limbo. Oops.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
My man Luisito.
We play soooooo much better as a team when we play a 3 man midfield. We didn't exactly play with a number 10, but it still helped us heaps as we controlled the game. Said it 1,000 times Lucas and Gerrard is/wasn't the problem. Let's hope we continue to play with 3 in the middle instead of playing "false 10" Moses or Aspas there.
Hopefully Enrique comes back soon, I can now see why Cissokho was let go by Valencia. It's a shame because Cissokho at Porto was quite good. He's just lost it nowadays.
Also, that linesman (the referee waved play on) just cost us a clean sheet. How was that a penalty?

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
If Skrtel was dragging our defense deeper than Rodgers wanted don't you think he'd tell him to get higher or not play him? Talk about clutching at straws when trying to find something to criticize in a player.

Re: Liverpool v West Brom
You can't tell a CB to play outside of his style... it's a recipe for disaster. If that's how Skrtel is effective, then he needs to play like that and the manager is aware of it.
In any case, i noticed from the get-go that you guys sit extremely low on defense... it's not a Skrtel thing imo.
