Thankfully I missed or ignored the part where he got felt up by his mum Laughing wtf Laughing That scene was as awkward as they get in the first place

She was giving mad uncomfortable aura. Thought that guy was cheating on his gf with this rooney-friendly hooker but turns out it was his mum ffs.

No doubt he will play hero at the end though. It just feels that way.

Case is interesting if what Ferrell said was true about people not wanting it to work. Wonder if they are going try the authority vs faces storyline eventually. Just like in S1 where people at higher places were the obstacle.

The only struggle I had on this episode was the opening scene. Man if I was not watching on TV I would probably have fast forward it. I don't blame Vince Vaughn at all for that, his delivery was fine but the writing was poor. "That's when the rats came" sounds like something Cartman would say. Vince Vaughn was amazing when he threatened that guy later

Do Vinci have Red Priests? Really don't think that Velcoro is dead and that sucks tbh. I like the character but I despise these fake deaths.

Did you notice that the lyrics of the song was different from the first episode in the end?

Yeah noticed that as well.
Thought the song was horrible at the start, then when I rewatched ep1 I kinda liked it.

I have a problem with the dialogue this season. They are trying too hard to mimic last season goatness but all it's doing is sounding out of place and cheesy and just plain bad.

Honestly Ferrell is the best thing about this season so far. So glad he's going to survive.

I don't really think they're trying to mimic anything. It's just his style. Galveston, which he wrote before TD season 1, is also the same kind of style. He even started the two different times before TD season 1 in this book. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Would've liked more of Vaughn's wife. Farrell is so amazing so far. The others haven't been bad, but I think he maybe overshadows them a bit. Feel like Vince Vaughn had a great episode also. Really enjoyed his story to his wife, that was some great acting.

Next episode is directed by Danish fella Janus Metz, who is going to direct Galveston.

That "story" he told was awful. I guess the writers were trying to establish a rough upbringing but really didn't come off there.

Glad Velcoro isn't gonna die, didn't really make sense that he would. His character hasn't been built up enough for it to have as much gravity as it could. I guess it was more of a warning, rubber bullets or something like in Kill Bill(iirc). Or he just had a vest but I don't think those guys want the attention that killing a detective would bring.

Wow until I came here I thought he was very much dead. Rubber bullets ?! hmm scratch

For me though personally Vince Vaughan was the real deal in this episode. Farell had one scene pretty powerful one. But VV's character is portraying more range I thought.

But then I agree only those 2 are are worth it so far.
Other characters are damn disappointing. Rachael mcadams ! So she basically is playing the Woody Harrelson equivalent here. Senior detective with a suppressed dirty side. Sadly Cant sympathize with her on any level. Utter shambles.

Agree with Freeza that I would also like to see Kelly Reilly's character more (VV's wife). She is a brilliant underrated actress. Has better screen presence already than the former.

And other guy. He looks actually more promising IMO despite until now being pretty meh. He has all sorts of problems it seems, so lol there should be so many material for them to pick up from to build his character.

Didn't they say even in this episode, that Caspere wasn't killed by the gunshots? He blead out somewhere else and they did something with his body after most likely. The problem with this is really that we watch one episode per week. Binge-watchers won't have a problem. Before Game of Thrones no one would assume he's dead tbh. No blood and damage fron the shot pretty much made it clear to me though. Also Matty surviving season 1 after those injuries made me not doubt it.

Its just that The idea of a possible non-fatal bullet didnt came to my mind.
Didnt delve much into it tbh. I watched it at 2 00 am so my senses werent totally ..you know functional. Woke up today and posted here without checking any review and shit. So yea as I said didnt think about all those possible leeways by which he could stay alive.

Interesting the part about Caspere btw and the fact that he didnt die despite taking a bullet shot. So that must have been that hint thrown at the viewers by the makers to explain this sequence. hmm

Ok, just watched.

Am I the only to not be involved for the Farrell's character ? he was  meh imo.
the problem is that the others characters are even worse . lol
Antigone is not having a good role, but I was reluctant about a female detective from the outset.
Antigone is a sex addict while his sister Athena appeared in 1st episode is a pornstar ( dem names Proud It looked like if I am studying again Greek language ) , I don't know if it juist a "coincidence" .
The positive things are the characters have an interesting past   worth getting to know better and so they  can improve and becoming more interesting that now  , and the general plot of this series looks like interesting tbh. Less the characters and the dialogues atm they 're missing imo.

It's weird. I like the show. A lot even but sometimes it has some of the cringiest God awful dialogue I've ever heard. Like Vaughn's rat story or "half great white and half anaconda" bit.

It is entertaining though and like M69 said, the nearly hour long episode goes by really quickly.

Also a little background on the real world city Vinci is based on: http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/lets-explore-the-corrupt-town-that-inspired-true-detect-1715997419

It is turning interesting.
I had many doubts after the 2nd episode (I didn't like it) but this 3rd was great and I feel it is going to improve further. Same sensations had by M99 , it passed so speedly . To be fair even the TD1 (although it was incredibly GOAT) began to give its best from 3rd episode after a starting a bit slow.

Loved the opening sequence. Thought it was really clever and transfixing.

@elite

Sometimes if you notice, the dialogues makes no sense to the actual conversation/context. It's like they are trying to make it sound deep when there is no need to. Most of it happens with Vaughn's scenes.

S1 had more balance I.E every time Rust would say some weird, abstract deep shit you had Marty right next to him making fun of him or telling him to stfu.

But if everybody runs about dropping deep, dark quotes without somebody with a standard perspective chipping in, it gets a bit much
