Real Madrid. What a shameful club.
Shameful? At least none of our coaches have tried to disguise that coming in 4th is like winning a trophy.

Unless you know the situation, it's really best not comment.

Pls go

Lopez is our starter and has rightfully earned it.
He has, however Casillas deserves a chance to show if he's at top form again. Casillas at top form is the best in the World. Starting Casillas is a risk that should be taken now, since it's the start of the season and there's no knockout games or anything.

We don't need to start him if Diego is on form and playing well.

Unless your logic is merely "because he is Casillas"

That being said Casillas will more than likely play CDR.

Yeh but Casillas on form is better than Lopez and he's the best in the World. I think long term starting Casillas would be ideal.

I don't think Lopez has been as good as people say. He's looked static around his own area, and beyond that I don't think he's had particularly much to do. But Iker has his own faults, and in a game like this, I wouldn't be surprised to see an error or two.

If people think he's going to win his spot back they're idiots. Copa Del Rey means less than nothing to him ; almost nothing to us ; and his performance will have little bearing over the results of the early games. Lopez is either going to give him it; or Carlo is going to give him it. I think the latter is likely, and in fact the right decision, but I don't think there needs to be expediency.

I think Iker is comfortable, he knows that save the apocalypse, his ticket to Brazil is booked. Save an unlikely mistake free season from Lopez, both he and Carlo will have the opportunity they need to ease him back into the 11 with little controversy.

If we have a truly great season, I could see him calling it a day. Thirty three is young for a keeper, but he's won everything, all that's missing is La Decima....and maybe a 2nd World Cup. If we get those two, I think he could do a Zidane.

To be fair Lopez been good since he arrived, unfair to just drop him i feel that would reflect bad on the club, I like iker but got to admit he was doing a pretty good valdes impression for a while

I have no doubt he will get his chances, but it shouldn't be handed to him cause he won this and that

I really think he wants to go to England. It would be a new interesting challenge.

Its boring to play at one club your whole career. If i was a footballer at that level, i would be very interested in moving to different cities.

It would be interesting to know how many of you watch Iker week in week out much less the keepers on the baseless lists you choose to write. If you ran to stats, they wouldn't help you.

In 11-12 he was the best keeper in the Champions League, the best keeper in La Liga, and the best keeper at the Euros. The year before he wasn't at good ; but was still better than most on your lists. Last year he was poor in spurts, and eventually injured.

Only Jibers will contrive some justification. Something along the lines of "poor position-ally, lacks in the box presence, doesn't command his defense"...all claims rooted in truth, if taken as relative to other keepers who may be stronger in those areas. Yet, the only parameter in which he may be logically excluded from the upper echelon of world keepers, is box presence. A problem which has not prevented him from being the best keeper in the world over extended periods of time.

Feel free to continue with your lists though.

hes a great keeper but theres no denying he hasnt looked this prime self..

and since his injury he has looked absolutely defeated in light of being displaced by lopez.

as a huge iker fan this is very concerning.

Mou benched him for Adan... that was political; nothing to do with performance. That's what angered most Madrid fans. Adan is the 4th keeper at Madrid right now lol. They're trying to sell him to anyone but nobody will take him... that's how average he is.

Personally, i think Iker should be given a shot via rotation with Lopez. Whoever performs better after 1 months gets La Liga + CL while the other gets CDR and friendlies... that's how i'd handle it.

I thought Mou benched iker cause he was trying to prove bigger than Mou or something like that ,or are there other reasons?

Mou wanted Real Madrid players to take an antagonistic public stance against Barca and the rest of the footy world... he wanted to create an "us against the world" situation where he (Mou ) would be the dictator.

Well, that's not how it works at Madrid.  The Spanish NT players of Madrid are friends with Spanish NT players of Barca and, by tradition, Madrid players & management try to behave well. Madrid are not an underdog team and we won't behave like one.

Ramos and Iker were basically at odds with Mou over this (others too).  He wanted to break the Ramos/iker influence on the club.  He first benched Ramos for Varane if you remember... but then Pepe started playing badly and got injured.  He was forced to play Ramos.  Then, he used Iker by saying "i feel that Adan is the better goalkeeper" (Laughing) which is obvious bs.

Basically, Mou tried to make himself the emperor of Madrid by attacking the other influential figures (Ramos and Iker)... it failed miserably.

Mou was also trying to deflect attention from his piss poor management and bad results to start the season by blaming the players and pointing the finger at Ramos and Iker.

All political.
