I dont buy into the Sky rubbish about foreign players "adapting to the premier league" but I always worry about foreign DEFENDERS adapting. It is very physical and even though this guy looks a good ball player, he may not have the strength to make it.

Coates is a good example.

Yeah, it's difficult not to think is he going to be another Coates or not. Not that all hope should be lost on Coates. But I don't think we'll see much of Ilori this season, because we've got Agger, Skaho, Toure and hopefully Skrtel, too. Unless we're going to play with three at the back which would be interesting.

Btw the Varane comparison is pretty legit, although he's obviously not as good yet, the similarities in composure is frightening. Got tons of potential.

Does the NextGen series count? I saw him play against us, dude's a very good young CB. Obviously young prospects don't always work out, but no reason to get down on him just because our last one failed. He'll either come good or he won't, I'd rather get excited about the possibility of him coming good.

He doesn't have to become some massive beast with muscles bulging through his shirt, but hopefully he fills out a bit more or bulks up a bit. He does look quite slim and it could be a problem.

Really looking forward to watching him play though, fairly big sum of money for a relatively inexperienced player. Interesting signing.

Coates skill sets as the same like Hyypia, it all about read the game

the fact Rodgers has bought 4 defender's who skill set is about power, pace you can see why Coates would find hard to get in Rodgers team,Coates is a good young player & play for any other club who use his skill set we would all see how good he is,

Ilori--Sakho look good centre back pick for years to come

It was coates's bad luck that he had injuries and he also couldnt do enough with the given opportunities..

Coates played well in the few games with Dalglish as he fit the way Dalglish what to play,

as for any opportunities with Rodgers, Coates had no game time then throw in a fa cup game, then when it all went wrong for Rodgers he did a Hodgson blame the young players,

Coates is a good player but not what we need now

Some passer of the ball for a CB, isn't he?

may be you can correct the second link, he seems good at tackling, on few occassions showed that he has pace but still looked raw and I hope he keeps his place in the starting XI at Granada and we can send the clown Toure back home
