Independence for Catalunya & Euskadi
There's some buzz, like always, about the independence on Catalunya.
If this would ever go through would Barcelona remain in La Liga? Or better yet should they even be allowed to participate? Same goes for the NT.
I personally have mixed thoughts about it.
What about you guys?
I mean on the bright side that would mean Valdes would be starting GK for the NT

Re: Independence for Catalunya & Euskadi
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is 'convinced' that his club will continue to participate in Spain's La Liga even if Catalunya becomes independent from the rest of the country.
This week has seen massive demonstrations in the streets of Barcelona with, according to The Guardian, up to 1.5 million marching in support of Catalunya's push for independence and inevitably it has sparked questions as to what it will mean for the 2011 Champions League winners.
Rosell, however, has no doubt that Barcelona will continue playing in the Primera Division, likening the situation to Monaco in France.
"If Catalunya becomes independent, it would make no difference. We would keep on playing in the Spanish league just like Monaco in France continues to play in Ligue, despite being a separate state. I am convinced of this," Rosell was quoted by Sport.
The president also went on to assure that his club's rivalry with Real Madrid would remain intact, in any event.
"Even in the situation of an independent Catalunya, we would continue to play Real Madrid, just like always," he said.

More importantly if Catalunya becomes independent will they compete in the Eurovision song contest?

Re: Independence for Catalunya & Euskadi
Barca vs Madrid games imo would become intense as ever
It's be a Spain vs Cataluña game that either way who ever wins would be Spain is better/Cataluña is better
Would they finally be recognized as a NT by FIFA would their players leave La Roja? Could they even leave seeing as they've already played for Spain?

Imagine current Spanish NT without Barca players.

Catalan players you mean?
I think it wouldn't lose a step tbh
Would lose Valdes; Puyol; Pique; Xavi; Busquests; Fabregas; Alba
Pique has been horrible; Puyol is basically at the end of his career; Valdes is not first choice anyway; Fabregas does not start and Spain has Cazorla/Silva/Mata; Busquests would be a blow but Javi can step in; Xavi would be a blow but Spain can still play and win without him in the same style and fasion plus Xavi being 32 he does not have much longer left in him. Alba tbh I don't really rate.
Don't see the problem

We won't fall apart man. Busquets would be a loss for the future.
But there is always Camacho
On a serious note, it's not happening, too much risk for a domino effect with other autonomus communities, especially the Basques, which is not a good idea at the moment

It would still be two very strong teams, but wouldn't be world beaters anymore.
SPAIN:

--Torres--
CATALONIA:

--Thiago-- --Busquets-- --Xavi--
--Pedro-- --Fabregas-- --Villa--

Albiol, Pedro, Villa, are not Catalan.
Thiago would have a decision to make.

Re: Independence for Catalunya & Euskadi
To be honest Catalan players leaving the Spanish NT will be a loss but nowhere near the loss as people make it out to be.
Espana easily has the best crop of talent in the world coming through especially with the Basque dominant talent that has made a serious resurgence.
If anything it'll give a chance to the better talent instead of blind picking from the overhyped Mesia of Barca.

What is Albiol doing in any starting XI lol. Don't let his decent recent performances fool you... he only seems ok in comparison to what he was before. He's still hugely error prone.

tbh I would rather allow that than watch another game with Spain having 80% of possession and doing absolutely nothing with it.
(yes I saw the Euro finals..miracles happen..Spain played, or rather, Italy allowed them to play more attractive than usual.)

It's easy to talk when you don't live there.
Spain(Madrid) at the moment is what owns and controls everything in Spain. But my strong guess is that Cataluna wants to manage it's own politics, budget, resources, the economy and everything left. Spain(Madrid) at the moment is what owns and controls everything in Spain.
But out of Cataluna independence a chain reaction may start in Spain and every community would want independence.

Exactly that. We are not spanish and we want to rule ourselves.
A chain reaction would only affect Basque country, who anyway are on their way to independence cause independentist parties will win next elections in Basque country.
Yohan Modric wrote:Why do Spain have regional governments?
There are regional governments but they are very weak and with not enough economic resources. Modric, you have an english flag under your avatar: would you agree that France ruled on England? It's the same.

Re: Independence for Catalunya & Euskadi
I don't know much about the history of Cataluña so I can't comment on Spain rule.
But England and France have been established for a long time.
A better example would be USA from English rule.
If independence is what they desire and they should. Especially if the majority is in favor but do you have the resources to stay afloat?
Oh then make your own La Liga

Living in Balkans taught me these things, and I'm behind Cataluna independence all the way, which sounds weird being a Real Madrid fan.
But I wan the La Liga to stay the same.
