Re: Goatzema - the one true Igwe
I dont see the issue, he had a good game. He was moving well, scored once, missed 2 others. It's ok to be honest, we can be upset because ultimately we drew the game but it's not like he cost us la liga.

He scored a tap in, congratz, and even then the difficulty of the goal was on that pass Khedira made over the defense, not the finish. Other than that, even when we had possession, his impact wasnt being felt. He could hardly get himself into some attacking move. It's not even so much about who played better, but Higuain as often had a meh performance but scored a goal.
If you are going to have such high standards then you should be fair and say this exact same thing about Benzema tonight.

Zeal, I understand this, I'm not criticizing him as a player for missing chances, heck Higz had a worse game vs Barca.
But....
I don't hold him to the same standards. He needs to recover strongly.
I'm interested to see how he reacts.

Exactly.
This was a CR performance and it's not acceptable. Not only did he miss, he took too many shots in the first place.
He was greedy today.

Not really because i thought he was moving and impacting the offense a little better. I shouldnt even say bad things about higuain because i keep expecting him to step out of what he does every week. He is a poacher, he keeps to that so it's ok. In some games however, poaching might noe be enough.

Well "poaching" would have won you the game.

Well maybe yes and maybe not, we dont know. However, i rate players also on the overall impact that they have, not just the Win and Losses.

Re: Goatzema - the one true Igwe
All well and true Nick...all I'm saying is that this is not acceptable and he has to do better.
God knows I appreciate everything he does, but this type of performance is not what we need from him.
Strikers have bad games, but when they cost you points they deserve the blame.
I'm easily his biggest fan here, but reality, he was not up to his own standards today.
There was a moment coming down to the end when he had a perfect oppurtunity to play through ball to Callejon, and he shot instead. That is in no way what he should be doing.
CR in all fairness today , did absolutely nothing wrong other than miss a couple chances, he was completely unselfish.

Re: Goatzema - the one true Igwe
He scored and he was playing well. Although he missed two sitters, im pretty sure you are calling this a bad performance because we drew. What if Ronaldo had scored his chance? or Callejon?
You are being influenced by the end result. Blame the team as a whole for not controlling the game better, something we have complaining about lately. Whenever Malaga was getting the ball, they were forcing us back in our half playing slow tempo and trying to build a move, while we were just looking to counter for huge stretches. It usually works tho, just not today.

Re: Goatzema - the one true Igwe
He moved well, he missed sitters yes...I would've called it a bad performance regardless, but I probably wouldn't have reacted like this.
The reality is the result matters.
He took 5 shots tonight, 2 of which weren't there.
I probably wouldn't have said anyone else had a bad game if he did all Benz did tonight, but to me that isn't the relevant issue.
He needs to make the right decisions ...when he has a through ball for Callejon he needs to play it instead of going for a glory 25 footer. It's this play specifically that pissed me off the most, people miss chances, I get that. But he has to me better decisions than that.
He had a good game, but that's his talent. Not his brain.

Well, he is just coming back from injury. The whole team played badly, yes Benzema might have cost us the 3 points, yes he deserves blame, but not the whole blame of all the team ffs.

Re: Goatzema - the one true Igwe
I'm not blaming everything on him.I'm blaming him for all that was within his control, which were 3 chances and more importantly a last minute opportunity to make the right play.
I'm hoping it's a one off on the latter.

Re: Goatzema - the one true Igwe
It's funny we blamed Ronaldo against Barcelona for the loss, people have no trouble blaming Higuain for the Lyon game yet when Benzema misses two howlers and is the first player in a century to take more shots than Ronaldo in a game he's suddenly not to blame.
Are you fing serious?
Higuain should of started he's been on fire, made no sense.

Leave Benzema alone! He doesn't take criticism well.. He'll just end up drowning himself in food again
