Welbeck, Flamini, Rosicky, Szczesny and Alexis won't be involved for Emirates Cup this weekend.

Danny Welbeck set to miss the Community Shield game as well. No update on Rosicky.

Ospina and Flamini trained today.

Alexis, of course, isn't back yet.

Not a surprise than Welbeck misses the game, given that he's not had a minute of pre-season.

Guess him and Alexis will have each other for company when they start preparing for the next season late. I hope that is the case and not even more delay. It's disconcerting that he's barely had a string of games.

Ospina will most likely be on the bench I suppose.

This is probably the best opportunity we've had in a decade to beat a Mourinho side, ergo we will end up getting pasted.

on Jack Wilshere…
He couldn’t take part in the game today because of an ankle problem he sustained yesterday. It happened at the training ground. We don’t think it’s bad at all but I haven’t been told whether it will be two days or five days. I don’t know how long he will not be available for. It’s a matter of days.

However, the injury is worse than first feared and Wilshere is unlikely to be fit to face West Ham at the Emirates Stadium in Arsenal’s first league game on Sunday.

Wilshere has a history of ankle and foot injury problems, and missed almost six months of last season after surgery on his left ankle.

So, Wilshere is out for the season now, isn't he?

Does that mean Welbeck will make a miraculous and fast recovery? Or is it that Wilshere is out because Alexis is back in training?

Apparently, it's his right ankle, which isn't the one that's given him so much trouble. Still annoying though that every time he gets a kick he seems to be out injured.

We're a bit thin on attackers at the moment with Rosicky out with some mysterious injury and Welbeck out. Alexis of course won't be available for a little while more. It's a good chance for Iwobi to get some games.

Wenger must concede that Hodgson got it right by playing him as the deepest midfielder, he does perform well in that position and most importantly the position protects him somewhat from terrible tackles.

I thought Diaby had left us. Clearly his injury hoodoo is lingering around

Wilshere's ankles are too fragile to play in attacking positions, it seems. Every single kick he gets turns into an injury. At the rate he's going he either has to play deep and therefore get less kicks, move to a league where he wouldn't get kicked so much, or be nothing more than an impact sub.

Double sucks for me since he's been England's best player for the last seven or eight games and now I have to put up with a terrible midfield for the next few games.

Also, I highly doubt we'll see Wilshere before December btw.

6-8 weeks out means add another 4 weeks till he trains and get ready, followed by few weeks of sub appearances and even U21 matches.

At least we are stacked in Midfield.

It's really sad, but I'm close to being done with him, honestly.

Another season of this , should just loan him out to any team willing to pay his wages and see if he can actually put together at least one single decently consistent season.

I just think we can't really keep a spot open for him on the squad if he continues to be this unreliable. It almost doesn't even matter how good he is when he plays or if he gets any better. You can't keep missing more games than you play year after year after year.

Team news:

Rosicky and Welbeck are on "progressive recovery". No time frame given on either, though Welbeck apparently isn't too far off.

Wenger confirmed Wilshere has a hairline fracture in his tibula and will be out for the six to eight weeks. No surgery required.

Alexis is back in training but Sunday is too soon for him. They'll decide at the end of the week when to play him again.

Wenger's given a 10 day time frame on Alexis' return. So he could be back in the squad for the Palace game next Sunday.

Wenger also reckons that Wilshere will only be out for four weeks, and not six to eight weeks:

Wilshere 4 more weeks.
