Hull Tigers v Liverbirds Empty Hull Tigers v Liverbirds

Post by Art Morte Fri Nov 29, 2013 8:15 am

So, a couple of days until the match.

Hull have lost four out of last five, losing a bit shockingly to Crystal Palace at the KC stadium 0 - 1 in previous round. It was their first home loss, though. Struggling to score goals as badly as Tottenham, just 9 hits in 12 games.

We're 2-2-1 in our last five, key players should all be fit (well, apart from Enrique) and should really be looking to get a win here.

I'd go with:

Mignolet
Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Cissokho
Henderson - Lucas - Gerrard
Coutinho
Sturridge - Suarez

Although wouldn't mind if we rotated our midfield:

Sterling - Henderson - Lucas/Gerrard - Coutinho
Sturridge - Suarez

The easiest of our away games for a while, At last a chance to get an away win.

Out of 7 away games this season ( All competitions) : 2W 3D 2L
Lost too many points on the road. Must win game.

Chelsea play Soton and United play Spurs, Cant mess this one up.

They started off the season well, but have faded in the last couple of weeks. They've only won 1 game from their last 5.

Just hoping we turn up to get the 3 points to be honest. Sick of these "lazy" performances away from home leading us to draw / lose. And I'm sick of Suarez being the ONLY consistent player on the road.

Looking at Nishank's post about our away record, we've been very poor. 2 wins from 7 isn't going to get us in the CL. (I'm aware that one of the games "away" was the loss against United away, but we still have to vs them in the league.)

With that said, looking at "pre match facts", everything looks positive for Liverpool.

Hull's biggest defeat in the PL came against Liverpool (6-1 to us) in 2009.
Hull and Liverpool have met 16 games, Liverpool has won 12 and drawn 4. (We've never lost against them before.)
Gerrard has 3 in 3 against Hull.
Sturridge has scored 15 goals in his last 17 games.
Suarez has scored 10 goals in his last 8.
75% (18/24) of Liverpool's goals this season have all been scored in the first half.
Steven Gerrard is the leading "assist" player in the league with 5. 4 of those assists have come from delivering set-pieces.

I don't see any reason to not go with our best XI since we have no other competition to worry about.

Mignolet
Kelly - Skrtel - Sakho - Johnson
Henderson - Lucas - Gerrard
Suarez - Sturridge - Coutinho
Having a strange feeling that Agger/Sakho might start at left back.

But it's not good for the morale if there's no rotation, plus we will play 3 PL matches in 7 days now, against some easier opponents, these three games are the ideal opportunity to do some squad rotation and frankly I'll be disappointed if Henderson, Lucas and Gerrard start all of these three games. Players like Sterling, Ibe, Touré, Sakho and Moses deserve a start in this period, imo.

difficult to Balance, isnt it?
Rightly so, agree with Arty, we can rotate at least for 1 or 2 positions depnding upon the opposition. It should not be just a Rotation, but actually with a game plan which can be well executed by the concerned Players.
What matters most is, before we encounter the three away tough fixtures, every first Team Player should be fresh and fit.

anyways, we can rest Players against Norwich.
MF of Allen, Hendo and Alberto can be interesting. For this game, we can start the strongest 11

That shouldn't even ruin us for this match.

Hendo - Lucas - Gerrard
Sterling - Suarez - Coutinho

Yes, please.

Cissokho for me. Us Liverpool fans are writing him off after some half a dozen appearances. Plus I wasn't impressed by Flanagan.

Don't know mate would really like to see Alberto starting this game. We haven't seen enough of him & this might just be a chance to show him off a little.

Yeah Sturridge will definitely miss this match. A big blow but we should still have the strength to go through this lot.

With Sturridge out, the options are:
1. Aspas
2. Allen
3. Alberto
4. Moses
5. Raheem

I think Rodgers will pick Allen (with Henderson shoved to RW). If he decides to rotate Lucas-Gerrard, then Moses will be picked.

Lets go for some natural width and start Sterling or Moses, please!

Four hours until the game, we've never lost to Hull, let's go get those three beautiful points bounce

That's an interesting line-up choice, I like this. Rotation. Although HendoLucasGerrard are again all three there. At least we've got a real weapon on the bench in Coutinho.

Moses and Sterling have been absolutely atrocious, I cannot stress enough how SHIT they have been. Henderson is not providing any quality on the ball, he's been ok off the ball. Suarez has been shit. We are missing both Coutinho and Sturridge big time.

if we dont improve, we are doomed
sterling having a difficulty in the game, i hope his pace comes to use for something
Hendo did well to win the free kick, if he had a little better first touch, he would have been a wonderful player for us.
Skrtel doing well at the back,
Everyone dropping deep because our midfield cant get the ball forward.

We're not creating anything Neutral

Moses tried to too fancy a flick in our defence third of the pitch, resulting in their goal.

Hull have plenty of players containing our front three plus Henderson, we either have to play quicker or bring Coutinho in for Lucas (or Gerrard, but that's not going to happen).

Moses - Suarez - Sterling just isn't clicking as of yet.
