lmao, pretty sure he got unreal stick from how much confidence he did have in him.

He just never had confidence in himself. That's why we never saw the real Gervinho. Dunno what this hate campaign is agaisnt Arsenal.

I honestly don't know what he's on about, if you don't have the confidence to play in the Premier League that's one thing. You don't do well, that's another. Wenger played him week in week out and had the utmost faith in him when the supporters didn't. Don't blame others for your own shortcomings.

Re: Arsenal Lobby

It was mistranslated apparently.

“I dreamed of playing for them, I loved them since I was a child,” Gervinho told The Sun. “I don’t detest Arsenal because of the way Wenger treated me.

“My frustration is I quit Arsenal too soon. I left a club I loved without really showing how good I was. I am happy I went there and was able to work with Wenger – I never thought I’d quit after just two seasons.

“Wenger never had faith in me. [Rudi] Garcia does not differentiate between those who play and those who don’t. For a player that is important.

“He doesn’t speak more to you because you play and less with me because I don’t.

“For him there aren’t only 11 players; there are 25 players. Everyone has the same level, gets treated the same and gets spoken to in the same way.”

That's a bit less low from him but I'm interested in how Wenger didn't show confidence in him, I remember Gervinho starting in rich and poor form and Wenger getting abused for it.

Maybe it's different in the dressing room but he's spoken out about it multiple times now, let sleeping dogs lie.

Reports emerging that Gilberto Silva has been offered a coaching role at Arsenal. I hope it's true and I hope he accepts.

It's too bad he was moved on from the squad when he was. I really think he deserved to be captain post-Henry and should have stayed until 2009 or 2010 ...

Thierry Henry retires. Joining Sky Sports instead of Arsenal in deal worth £25million.

on his 400th Premier League win…
It was a tough one today. It doesn't become easier. Honestly, you don't have a feeling because there is so much in the next game. I'm happy I could win 400 and it's not as easy as it looks. The next 400 will be much more difficult.

Good piece. Forget tactics and transfers, give us more injury luck last season with Özil, Walcott, Ramsey and other key players being in and out and we could have won the league imo.

Same goes with this year but not that we'd be in the lead but at the very least much more competitive.

MJ pls

If Man City had Aguero fit the whole season, it wouldn't be a contest. If Bitey wasn't suspended half the time Liverpool might have won it and on and on.

@urbs - MJ has a point.. Did you read the article btw?

It's not about one or two key players.. We have the highest number of days lost to injury among all teams.. And not just in the last two years, the data stretches back a decade to the Invincibles..

What pisses me off is that it took so long to realize that there might be a problem.

Yeah I read it. We have injury problems every season. Wenger knows this is a serious problem yet kept our squad with 2 natural CB's this season. How am I supposed to feel sorry or understand his situation? It's the same situation in midfield, Ramsey and Wilshere - very injury prone yet has no cover for these players, we have to recall a player we loaned out to Charlton whom no one wanted at the top level. Mesut Özil had no big injury in his whole career before Arsenal but has been out twice for 3 months, this is not a coincidence, I tell you. And again and again and again...

Besides the likes of Diaby and Rosicky increase the numbers of days lost to injuries and they are 3rd-4th choice and completely irrelevant to our title chances.

City can't control the fitness of one player, Liverpool couldn't control Suarez. Period.

But we can do more to prevent the amount of injuries spread across our squad. That's the difference and it's very reasonable to say we could have won it if we hadn't lost so many important players for such big chunks of the season.

And maybe Rosicky and Diaby would be closer to the starting XI if they were fit for extended periods of time. They're not irrelevant because they're fringe players, they're fringe players because of the very issue itself.

Btw, Liverpool had 10/15 points in the 5 games they played without Suarez. Same amount they had in the 5 games after he came back. And the same 5 games later. And 9 in the 5 after that.

And City had 31/39 points from games where Aguero was out injured.
