Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
He's certainly an exciting player, but his first team chances with us would be limited considering that we've already got Gnabry and Chamberlain for the right flank, which is where they're most likely to play even if it's not necessarily their best position. I'd rather see him to stay at Fulham and get regular first team football in the Championship; only other solution would be to buy him and loan him back.

Definitely selfish from me, he already plays in the first team for Fulham which he would NOT here, so for him it's best to stay at Fulham for a few years.

Arsenal have signed Greek left back Elias Hatzitheodoridis on a scholarship.
Youth blogger Jeorge Bird says:
So, how do we pronounce that?
Youth blogger Jeorge Bird says:
The 17 year old, who came through Arsenal’s Elite Academy in Greece, joins his compatriot Mourgos Savvas in signing a two-year contract with the club.
Considered one of his country’s best full-backs for his age group, Hatzitheodoridis has developed well in recent years and will provide some much-needed competition for Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, who is expected to be promoted to the U21 team on a permanent basis this Summer.
So, how do we pronounce that?

Arsenal sign Ben Sheaf from West Ham
Arsenal have moved to add another player to their promising new scholarship intake after completing the signing of Ben Sheaf from West Ham United.
The 16 year old midfielder has been capped twice by England at U16 level and joins fellow recent acquisitions Mourgos Savvas and Elias Hatzitheodoridis, who were recruited from the club’s Elite Academy in Greece.
Sheaf could make his Arsenal debut when the U18 team travel to face Lincoln City in a friendly later this month.
The signing of Sheaf increases the number of new scholars to 13, with nine of those having progressed through the club’s Hale End system. Kristopher Da Graca, the promising Swedish centre-back, has also formally completed his move to Arsenal and has been training with his new teammates at London Colney this week.

He probably did a great job in developing the youth players but at 69, it's time for him to step down.
Need younger and more advanced coaches at youth level.

Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
17-year-old Serbian wonderkid Mladen Micanovic is currently on trial at Arsenal.
The central midfielder is also wanted by Inter Milan and could cost £100,000. He is capable of playing rightback and centerback. If signed, he would be Arsenal's 8th youth addition of the summer.
He's got quite the passing range although this is obviously at a very poor level of competition but still.

Impressive thing is bar one player, it's the same wood team our first team played against. Would like olsson willock and Crowley to get some pitch time in the Emirates cup
Borehamwood wrote:Wood signed off their gruelling pre season with a commendable 2-2 draw against a highly talented bunch of young Internationals. Last season Wood ran out 3-0 winners in the tie, yet this time they faced a more experienced set of players whose build up play was at times mesmerising.
Jon Toral and Kris Olssen were included after featuring in the First Teams Trans Atlantic fixture against the New York Bulls, with the latter in particular looking like he has a huge career in front of him. Add to the mix two sixteen year old’s who more than earned their right to play in this Under 21 side. Chris Willock who featured for the First Team here at Meadow Park two weeks earlier, along with Dan Crowley could very well be household names in the near future.
Graeme Montgomery had the first chance to break the deadlock as early as the 3rd minute, his low effort from inside the penalty area running just wide of Josh Vickers’ left hand post.
When Charlie Walker was held back by Olssen three minutes later Wood seized the momentum. Lee Angol hit a fine free kick wide of Vickers to give Wood the lead.
Arsenal capitalised when Luke Garrard was caught out by Olssen six minutes later inside his own half. Olssen powered forward laying a ball into the path of Crowley on the left, who expertly squeezed his shot home at the near post beyond a full stretch James Russell.
Crowley looked for a quick second, but Russell was equal to his effort, as Arsenal, buoyed by the brilliant distribution of Olssen gave the Wood defence an all too familiar pre season work out!
Wood then showed the visitors they posed a threat on the counter attack when Montgomery picked out Walker who showed great skill in drifting across the face of the area before testing Vickers with a well struck effort.
With the visitors controlling possession for long periods Toral hit a superb shot that Russell repelled with his chest.
Whilst Crowley and Olssen continued to threaten the Wood defence, Angol reciprocated at the other end of the park, giving both Semi Ajayi and Stefan O’Connor a full examination.
Wood gained the advantage just before half time. A fine in swinging cross from Greg Morgan on the left found Garrard who saw his header cleared off the line by the hand of Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill. The Wood Assistant Manager struck a perfect penalty to give his side the advantage.
A sublime interchange of passes between the superb Crowley and Willock ended with the latter curling an effort just over the bar for the visitors. Arsenal continued to dominate possession and introduced Alex Iwobi after 55 minutes. He benefitted from Crowley’s teasing run hitting the crossbar with a fine effort, their best chance since opening their account.
Ricky Shakes worked tirelessly on the edge of his own area in protecting the lead, with Josh Hill and Callum Reynolds as efficient and focused as ever in the heart of defence.
Hill’s one mistake allowed Willock and Crowley to combine again but this time Crowley failed to hit the target.
Arsenal fully deserved their equaliser, which came courtesy of a move down the left again involving Willock. He set up Ormonde-Ottewill whose shot was blocked only as far as Toral who made no mistake.
Wood hung on for the draw, with the lively Iwobi’s effort into the side netting as close as they came to a winner on the night.
In summary Wood Boss Ian Allinson commented, “ Arsenal’s ball retention was fabulous! We set our stall out yet looked tired towards the end of the game. It was extremely hard to get the ball, then easy to give it away again against such talented young opposition. From a match fitness perspective it was excellent. We looked strong in defence and in the middle of the park and need to finalise the attack before next Saturday.”
Looking forward the the start of the season Allinson added, “ I have watched Farnborough and was impressed with what I saw. They will be tough opposition no question and we need to be focused. Then we travel to Hemel Hempstead whose home record last season was second to none. It is good that the players have four days off now, coming back in for two training sessions before we go again in the League.”
Team: Russell, Nunn, Morgan, Garrard, Hill ( Beattie 89), Reynolds, Walker ( Whichelow 66), Thomas ( Hope 66), Angol ( Vasey 89), Shakes, Montgomery ( Noto 78).
Goals: Boreham Wood: Angol 6, Garrard 45 pen.
Arsenal : Crowley 12, Toral 74.

Great game going on between Forest Green and an Arsenal XI right now. Score currently 5-3 to Arsenal.
@Arsenal:

GOAL FOR ARSENAL! Toral finds Zelalem who clips a deft return pass to the Spaniard who lobs the keeper 2-2 (59)
GOAL FOR ARSENAL! Crowley picks up possession 25 yards from goal and drills an unstoppable effort into the corner 3-3 (65)

GOAL FOR ARSENAL! Crowley slips a fine pass into Hayden who slides home to complete a quickfire brace 3-5 (85)
Dan Crowley has 5 goals this pre-season.

Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is still training with by Austrian giants Sturm Graz after his trial session was extended by three weeks.
Sturm Graz decided to observe the former Arsenal player over a longer period in the daily training routine.
Frimpong has been without a club since being released by relegated Championship side Barnsley.
The 22-year-old will spend another three weeks in the Black and Whites. Together with his advisers, it was decided to observe him over a longer period in the daily training routine.
It is the goal of Emmanuel to fight in the next three weeks this young team with Spirit, as he himself says.
"Emmanuel is convinced of this project Sturm Graz and wants to revive his career after his injury problems," Frimpong’s consultant Eddie Duah.
Frimpong has rich experience playing in top competitions which includes five matches for Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League and six in the Premier League.
He has also played for Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan.
Good luck Frimpong

Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
Arsenal u21s won that match last night against 1-0.
Highlights: http://player.arsenal.com/matches
I think Crowley is clearly the biggest talent in our youth. Hes 8 months younger than zelalem and missed 6 months development last season with injuries, that's why he hasn't progressed up the age groups as fast as zelalem has, imo. I need to see him playing 90 minutes more often to see how good his overall level is, but he looks so so good technically in the highlights each time he plays, and shows passing ability not even zelalem has displayed. Judging by that game he can play on the left as well as centrally, that's good, his versatility will make it easier to transition into first team football.
