Re: Kurt Zouma
Shaky at times (as you'd expect) but saved our ass on a number of occasions tonight.

Zouma. The boy was impressive today. He's going to bench Cahill if he continues to improve.

Re: Kurt Zouma
He just benched him for the two most important games of our season, I think he's already a starter.aldrin_only wrote:Zouma. The boy was impressive today. He's going to bench Cahill if he continues to improve.

Re: Kurt Zouma
I wouldn't call Tuesday night's game one of our 2 most important of the season, but that he's beginning to get starts over Cahill at all suggests there's change afoot.

Re: Kurt Zouma
I wouldn't call him a starter, but he is a boss.
He clearly has the pace and power (his leaps are godly, better than anyone else I have seen), I do worry about his tactical prowess, but next to JT, he looks solid.
As long as he continues to work on his positioning and such, as well as he works on his passing (Cautious is an understatement), He'll be a fine starter.

Re: Kurt Zouma
The archetypical Mourinho era Chelsea player. Much needed in this squad.

http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/3/3/8144989/mourinho-kurt-zouma-future-captain-leader-legendJose wrote:"They (Terry and Zouma) are different players. Sometimes you get replicas of players."
"Other times you can't do it, and if you can't Zouma now is 20, so one day Zouma will be 23 or 24 and will be a player of great maturity and probably leadership, too, to replace John."
"This (replacing Terry) is a process we can take our time with because John is proving again this season that he is a player for years."
"If the fire (in him) is still there, this contract will not be the last contract he signs."
"Zouma is playing more than I expected, more than he expected, more than everyone expected. So he's getting very important experience. When he gets caps with France and is playing with Chelsea at this level his development will have an acceleration."
"We bought him because of his physical profile, but we were not happy with his tactical knowledge of the game. We trusted we could give that to him. In pre-season, I saw mistakes in Germany against Werder Bremen. Mistakes in Hungary against Ferencvaros. I thought ‘No problem, it will take time.' He's bright, humble, wants to work and learn, listens and is intelligent, so he's had an acceleration in that process to bring him to a level where he is competing with Gary Cahill. I thought in pre-season that Branislav Ivanovic would be my first option to replace John and Gary, but certainly not any more."

Some massive praise here.

Re: Kurt Zouma
Look, he is showing to be real quality (matching Cahill) and will only get better, he is John's understudy and if Jose thinks he can be a future captain, we may as well let them see if they can mold him into that role.
He is young, and in 2-3 years We're going to need a new Captain or at very least, a vice captain.
Cech and Drogba won't be around, Lamps and Cole have already left. Bran could well be declining, so if we mold Zouma into that role now, we won't have a major issue, ala Arsenal.

Re: Kurt Zouma
Agreed, everything is in place for him so it would be foolish of us to not take advantage of it.
Could you imagine having another JT (Not saying he is a carbon copy) for 15 more years?
We've already got a Cech replacement.
Courtois and Zouma could form the next great spine of our team.
