Injustice, where the plot is made up and the characters don't matter.

Martian Man Hunter is probably the most "Buddha" like, therefore worthy of picking up the hammer.

Superman and Batman have a rigid sence of whats considered "right". Their pride stops them from being impartial and just imo. Same goes for Hal Jordan and wonderwoman.

Actually most of the characters created during the pre cold war era have this "good ol American" (pompous) personality. They all act like Hulk Hogan from the 80s Laughing

Not sure you've read too many recent comics, mate.

Thor has always held a very strong sense of what's "right and wrong." That's a key part of what makes him worthy of wielding Mjolnir. What would stop Superman and Batman from wielding it is their unwillingness to kill, as part of being worthy of the hammer is being a warrior and willing to kill when necessary. Recent comics have sort of challenged this interpretation of those two characters though. Wonder Woman (being an Amazon warrior) and Hal Jordan (being an ex-US Air Force pilot) do NOT have that limitation and have demonstrated that they are willing to take life when necessary. In fact, the Green Lanterns have almost all demonstrated that in the past few years.

Read Red Son today. Don't know if I really loved it or just thought it was okay. It was something else for sure, really enjoyed it.

Re: Comics

Just watched "Twilight" from season 2 of Justice League, good set of episodes where Superman's character is put to the test, yet it is Batman who largely pulls a lot of the strings in this test.

Without spoiling, the final moment where Clark tells Bruce "you're not always right" says a lot about the episode's themes and the characters' conflicts about drawing a hero's line. Batman pushes Superman in and out of the conflict and the effects are as contentious as the causes.

Edit: Then again, during the Justice Lords and "United We Fall" episodes of the series, Batman again interferes with Superman's actions albeit in these cases he prevents others from affecting the character influencing decisions that Superman must make for himself. I have to watch them again but it seems to me like its a running theme that Batman has an effect on Superman's actions and they are arguably contradictory in nature.

So has anyone read the new DC Rebirth? I really loved it tbh. It also felt like a dig at the whole DC discourse over the last many years.

Loved the moment when they met eachother again.

I read it yesterday. Despite the hate he gets from certain segments I am a huge Geoff Johns fan. Love his general view of comics as a whole and I find it translates into stories I quite like as well. GL: Rebirth and the rest of his GL run (especially up through Sinestro Corps War) still stand as one of my favorite on-going runs of all time.

I gotta go read those Green Lantern runs. Haven't read much since I've finishing my degree the last 6 months.

What did you think of the issue?

Also
Spoiler:
What do you think of the Dr. Manhattan thing?

I think that has/will upset a lot of people... A LOT. Not the least of which being
Spoiler:
Alan Moore
himself. I am both a bit apprehensive and quite curious to see how things play out on that front though, as
Spoiler:
Dr. Manhattan could potentially end up as a straight take on the Empty Hand from Grant Morrison's Multiversity or a much more benign antagonist.

I was reading Black Science and Manhattan Projects for a while but sorta lost interest after a bit. Not quite sure why either, to be honest, as I enjoyed both of them.

Didn't think it was a huge problem tbh.

My biggest problem with season 2 was that I didn't care that much about the cast as season 1. Missed Wally and Artemis.
