It was in no small part due to LFC fans breaching rules, you know. Everyone would be well served by taking a minute or two to look over the forum's rules again.

You said so there too, and I'll believe you. But what stood out to me was people complaining about a correct decision that didn't even involve their team.

Looks like they're scared of us. With good reason, because we're the best team in the land YES WE ARE

I wonder what kind of midfield Rodgers is going to be fielding against City. Obviously Henderson and Gerrard are locks, but does he start Coutinho, Lucas or Allen? They're all viable options that bring some slightly different elements to the midfield, but if I'm being honest while Couthinho is one of my very favourite players I think he'd be best served for this match-up as a substitute.

Johnson - Skrtel - Sakho - Falanagan
Henderson - Gerrard (DM) - Lucas
Sturridge - Suarez - Sterling

That would be my starting XI, and then having Coutinho as someone we can sub on if we need to score, and Allen for Sterling if we need to control the tempo in the middle a little more and play defensively.

Just IMO. We're on the road folks. It's been sublime to watch these lads out there every game on this run (and really, this whole season).

I don't want to be a bloody party popper, but is no one else worried that for 3 games Hendo is out, and Sturridge might be out for a few weeks.

We literally have only like 12 players to chose from, that I'd consider having faith in getting a win.

It's a worry, but even without Henderson (and possibly Sturridge) there's still more reason for optimism than worrying. We'll see how the Norwich game goes and will know a little better then.

Re: The Road to Premier League Title

Post by messixaviesta on Sat Apr 19, 2014 10:13 am

It would be simply wonderful if Liverpool were to win this year's Premier League title. Here are the reasons why I feel that way.

1. Here is a massive club who hasn't won the title in ages.

2. Last year the club finished in 7th position and was thus no one's bet for the title including the most ardent of it's own supporters.

3. There hasn't been any recent significant transfer market expenditure by the club. Yes some money was spent by Kenny Dalglish some time back but most of it was wasted. To be able to make the best use of what was there and supplement it with shrewd purchases like Sturridge and Coutinho is very commendable.

4. Even though Atletico Madrid's underdog fantasy story may be even more fanciful they at least play negative minded physical football. Liverpool plays open attacking football and whips lots of goals against the best of teams. To even consider doing that when on paper you are considered the weaker team and you are facing some of the so called best teams in the world is staggering.

5. Brendan Rodgers. 90% of coaches who move from a small club to a big club fail. Often in football overachieving with small teams and winning big with big teams are considered two different skills. These coaches are accused of possessing the former skill and not the latter. Rodgers has been an exceptional surprise. His appointment was a huge gamble but still he was given the job instead of some of the bigger names available. What a decision that has turned out to be. What especially pleases me is that he gives coaches currently at small teams hope that they can one day win big with big teams. If no one had succeeded under similar circumstances opportunities for such coaches would become rarer.

6. Liverpool fans. Often called the best and most loyal fans in the world. Xavi has told us Barca fans more than once that there is a lot we can learn from Liverpool supporters. Who in football hasn't heard of "You'll Never Walk Alone". Even Thierry Henry once said that if at all he could ever play for another club in EPL it would be Liverpool only because of the fans.

7. Luis Suarez is a genius.

8. It would be tragic if a player as good as Steven Gerrard were to retire without a league title.

9. Major unexpected changes in league positions and especially in title winners of major leagues reinvigorate interest in that league and suggest that there is still something romantic about football, that it's not just about big money and big names. Dortmund, Atletico and Liverpool have been badly needed fresh breaths of air just when it seemed that the beautiful game was becoming more and more a slave of money.

10. I do not want either Jose Mourinho's Chelsea or Moneybags' Manchester City to win the title. Smile

Allen's miss against Everton, Toure's key pass at the Hawthorns and Gerrard's slip up the hat-trick of what-ifs. Was a great season and the Champions League beckons. Let's enjoy the World Cup and go again next season.
