With Rooney and Sturridge switching positions like Suarez and Sturridge at LFC.

Subs to change the game: The Ox, Carroll and Barkley.

I highly agree with this lineup, ideally it would be Wallcott in the starting lineup.

Still, theres some iffy things here and there, i wouldn't trust Wilshere with a starting spot on the team, i'm also not sure if he's comfortable in that role, he usually plays deeper.

Didn't Hart have a bad start this season? He doesn't exactly have quality subs behind him...

Rooney isn't exactly in the most positive mindset, not too mention that by the time summer rolls in he's usually exhausted.

Does Gerrard have enough energy to make it till the tournament??

Sterling might be too young to handle a starting lineup pressure.

Would Hodgson be too negative to fully utilize this lineup to its potential?

If the UK participated instead of England this team could have Bale, Allen, Ramsey...

Best of luck to England though, theres enough there to be excited about.

Wilshere can play box-to-box, but I'm under the impression his more natural position is rather a bit higher up than deeper down defending. Maybe an Arsenal fan could comment on this one.

Hart, I know. West Brom's Foster is a really good shot-stopper, but realistically thinking it's going to be Hart in goal in Brazil.

Rooney is a dead certain starter, mindsets or fatigue are irrelevant.

The same goes for Gerrard, who is the captain.

And Hodgson might be too cautious indeed to play a 4-3-3, it could well be a four or five man midfield.

The less defensive work and tracking back Wilshere has to do, the more he tends to excel. Although he has the willingness to perform defensive work, he's rough around the edges; has a tendency to give away cheap fouls and lacks discipline.

Henderson would be a good foil for him in the same way Ramsey is, by basically doing most of the defensive work for him and still having the energy to get up and support him in attack.

Both Wilshere and Henderson will excel only if England play 4-3-3.

With Hodgson most likely to play 4-4- with  banks of 4 defending , i can see both of them(if they play ahead of Cleverly  ) struggling to fit in and getting slated as usual.

Forster is a better goalkeeper than Foster. I think when Forster eventually moves to England he'll get the credit he deserves and challenge Hart.

England have some very good players still but I think they may struggle in their group due to the fact Uraguay and Italy have better squads.

^ There is no way in hell Uruguay have a better squad than England.

Uruguay, bar one player, are absolutely awful.

Uruguay revolve around Suarez. That's about it, Stop him and they are over.

Easier said than done, Stopping Suarez.

At the moment there are English players playing very well. If Hodgson is smart he will put Johnson, Hendo, Gerrard, Sturridge and Sterling to play. From all I know he can fill the empty positions with players in a good moment of form such as Baines, Barkley and Cahill, besides Rooney and Hart. The challenge is transform these good players in a real team.

I just wish we could see the best out of Townsend on this WC.

If Rooney and Wilshere really increase their workrate to Coutinho and Suarez level then the front 6 could really work like a poverty version of Liverpool, which still might be more beneficial than what Woy probably has in mind.

Terry hasn't retired, right? So why not him instead of Jagielka?

What I meant was productive and effective work rate, not headless chicken work rate that he has.

Mmhm That's why both Henderson and Wilshere are tied on goals scored this season, despite Wilshere playing 4 games less and being sidelined with injuries throughout the campaign

What a headless chicken Rolling Eyes

All your statement proves is its own stupidity  Laughing

What do goals for a CM have to do with effective work rate?

Lol, the Uruguay = Suarez comments in this thread are incredible. After 3.5 years of pessimism and beating yourselves up about your own supposed mediocrity, England fans have finally reached the edge of the precipice of self-loathing and are jumping down into the valley of delirious self-aggrandizement.

Well, goals can hide the poor job of a CM. The classic case is central defenders who score a bunch of goals, but when this phase passes, they are bad or not but common and are relegated to the bench.
