Bad luck Valdes, he deserves much appreciation and praise. This season hes been brilliant, a lot of top draw saves that helped get us points.
I dont see a lot of discussion too about who Barca have in mind as his replacement next season? Not Pinto of cos.

Barcafailing doesn't even watch football matches. Ignoring this poster will make your life 350% better. Easily the most clueless poster on here.
I reckon Valdes will retire. Who will pay for him and his treatment? He is done sadly. Great career though.

I hope Barca don't show mercy and offer him a 1 year contract. He wanted to act all tough and all, butthurt, refusing any contract talks, desperate to leave and prove that Barca will crumble without his Lev Yashin-esque skills, thinking that clubs were going to line up for his services en masse. Seems like even on a free transfer only Monaco showed interest, mainly for marketing reasons.

Yeah, he is so overrated that the only reason why we were 7 points clear at one point with Real Madrid(don't remember how many points we were ahead of atleti) was because of Valdes saving our asses time and time again..

But this team lives injury to injury and we’ll keep moving forward and keep trying.
'we'll keep trying' ... where have I heard that line before?
Anyway, sad news, wish Valdes has a fast and full recovery.

Haven't Barca pretty much wrapped up ter Stegen as the replacement? Gladbach have confirmed he is leaving.

Barça confirm that Víctor Valdés will undergo surgery in Augsburg on Monday. Ulrich Boenisch will perform the operation.

Didn't Real's Jese also get surgery by Dr.Boenisch on his torn cruciate ligament in Augsburg two weeks ago? Sound like he is quite a specialist there!

nah, simply Barcellona was a team so amazing in Guardiola era that it could play even without GK
that Barcelona was not only a great goal machine but it caused impotence to many adversaries because it conceded hardly goals' actions (nothing to see with now,.)
He's been always mediocre mate, and this mediocrity was emphasized before of Guardiola when the Barcellona was a squad more normal
just asking to Craig Bellamy.

I know what u mean and I used to think that also, but over time I watched so many Barca games Ive come to realise hes actually that good and saved us countless times. He makes mistakes and arent perfect, not as good as Casillas for example, but some things hes great as, like 1v1s, shot saving and reflexes. Barcas style reduces vhsnvrd conceded and what the GK has to do, but also as a result, the GK's concentration have to be spot on as well so that when needed in the few moments in a match to make saves hes up to it. I think thats one of the reasons he wants to change club as well.

Cause schmeichel, casillas, buffon or cech have never made a mistake and especially not when they were younger

Seriously.. everyone knows, even most Barca fans that Valdes is a mediocre goalkeeper. Just accept it. Blunders way too often and nothing special in goalkeeping at all. He only managed to stay at Barca because of Pep's utter domination football.harhar11 wrote:Cause schmeichel, casillas, buffon or cech have never made a mistake and especially not when they were younger

Re: Valdés on the way back
It is hilarious how "ignorant" football fans just keep underrating Valdes.
Here is a fact; no team in history would do as well as Barca without a top drawer GK. Barca had great players from top to bottom, and while their star studded midfield and attack gets most of the praise, Puyol and Valdes did a lot of the dirty work behind.
You can magnify all the errors Valdes did all over the years, but if you also ignore his magnificent record in both La Liga and Europe as you well you are just being a massive imbecile.
He may not be as good as Buffon, Iker, Cech, and others, but at no point was he not a top 10 GKs and he was always the best ball retention GK around.

Re: Valdés on the way back
His record is great and all but the way barca had been playing over the past few years made it so the opposition RARELY saw the ball, let alone even generate anything.
Great gk but a lot of his stats is due to the way barca play to keep possession.

Actually, GKs like Casillas, Buffon, Reina, Neuer etc... have had same amount of blunders in their career, some even more...
But Valdes had 1 against Real Madrid especially the one v Di Maria in 2012. This is why people remember it more...
Valdes has been starting for Barcelona since 2002/03, its not a coincidence that he stayed for that long and played a major role in helping Barcelona win 3 Champions League Trophies in this period... I won't ever forget the 2006 Final. Thanks to Valdes, we won our 2nd UCL! You should ask Henry about Valdes' performance in that game...
Valdes has the 3rd most clean sheets in Liga's history and 2nd most clean sheets in Champions League history.... that's not luck, its consistency... He have won a record 5 Zamora Trophies for Best GK in La Liga... Although, as we all know Barcelona's defense was always their weakest point...

Sebastiano Rossi has the unbeaten record in Serie A , do you think he can be comparable to Albertosi, Zoff, Zenga, Peruzzi , Pagliuca , Buffon, Julio Cesar etc ?
Not even the best keeper Milan ever.
But he had a defence and a squad so strong , as well as Barcellona was something of amazing who it was hard even concede goals chances as I said above ,
the magnificent record have to be contextualized mate.
