Re: Adam Lallana
He's got a good attitude and has a bit of an eye for goal, I can be rather happy with that when reflected on our season as a whole. However, if our marquee signing in every window was a Lallana, we'd be lucky to finish in Europa League spots, let's put it that way.

Re: Adam Lallana
He's got everything to fit right into the system. 6 goals isnt a bad return, But he should be in double figures this season, Disappointed.
Sometimes his crosses to Sterling or his lazy passes make me cringe other than that it looks like he's stuck but the guy always has some trick up his sleeve to get out of tight situations. Not to mention probably runs as much as Henderson if not more without the ball.
Deserves to be a part of a European club unlike so many other passengers in the squad.

He isn't our marquee signing, he is one of many players we overpaid for.arty wrote:However, if our marquee signing in every window was a Lallana
Yeah, sometimes he just seems to switch-off for few minutes and it happens so suddenly.nishy wrote:Sometimes his crosses to Sterling or his lazy passes make me cringe
Do you suppose this will work next season:
Mignolet
RB-Skrtel-Sakho-Moreno
Emre-Henderson
Coutinho
Ibe/Markovic-ST-Lallana

Still rate him the same. A decent squad player to have around the club. Still worth no where next to for what he was bought for.

Is that his freaking fault??? We are evaluating the player not his transfer.@Red Alert wrote:Still rate him the same. A decent squad player to have around the club. Still worth no where next to for what he was bought for.

you can't say that. Torres would have been an ok free signing, however, he was a terrible 50m pound signing.

Why buy a fiat and expect it to perform like a Ferrari when you you can just buy the Ferrari is my point.
I don't care for Lallana. I care for Liverpool at the end of the day.

Because we were never willing to pay for the extra fuel consumption in the Ferrari.

Kick, RA; you don't understand what I'm saying. The player controls his performance and so you judge him as shit, meh, OK, awesome or whatever. On the other hand, the price being paid is the yardstick to judge the management or whoever responsible or in control.@Kick wrote:@iftikhar wrote:Is that his freaking fault??? Emre has been good so the player is praised. We paid a very competitive fee so the credit is for the management.

Re: Adam Lallana
Despite fitness issues and playing out wide Lallana has 5 goals and 3 assists in 1,689 minutes. A lot of which was either as a sub, or not playing the full game. Sterling has 7 goals and 8 assists in 3,045 minutes playing more games as a striker than any other position. So he was just as productive, but harder working off the ball and wasn't given nearly as much opportunity (plus he was injured off and on most of the season).
That is to say if Lallana stays healthy next season we will not miss a beat without Sterling to be honest. I really don't think that he's important to Liverpool right now and the only thing to be upset about there is what he could become in the future, but I don't think he has the mentality to reach his potential anyway. He will always be a passenger.
All this to demonstrate that Lallana has been a pleasant surprise for me as I was on the fence about his signing in the beginning. He has turned out quite well, and when healthy has been one of our best players this season, probably only behind Coutinho of our offensive players IMO. I don't think the fee was bad for him when you consider going rates for players with the influx of money into the EPL.

Re: Adam Lallana
His first season was a disappointment for 25m. Injuries didn't help but he wasn't a game changer at all. We need him to really step up. He's got quality and is a likable guy so fans won't turn on him like they did Keane, Carroll, Downing etc and rightly so.
But he needs to show A LOT more this season.

Wouldn't mind at all if he never played for us again, that is what I think of him.

Well, that's just stupid. Lallana has been totally fine this season. Great work rate and courage. Looking to make things happen. Coutinho could learn a lesson from Lallana's endeavour.

Work rate and courage
I seem to remember resilient Stewie Downing being lauded with the same superlatives.
Has no end product. Good player for mittable teams but obviously not good enough for us, unless of course mid-table is where we want to be at.

Re: Adam Lallana
I'm not saying he's top class, but the fact is that in the last few games he's been doing just as much good things as Coutinho and more than Firmino. And it's down to his good attitude and work rate. The two Brazilians have been greatly frustrating to me recently; Firmino because he looks Markovic-level scared and Coutinho because he looks like he could do more with his ability if he just put a bigger shift in. While Lallana isn't the most amazing footballer, we currently need his hard work in our attack.
