What a crap save attempt by Bravo.

I understand it deflected what looked like to be Samper...but COME ON. It was his in his hands when it rickochet out so I can't feel bad for the guy if it was in his mits. I won't crap on Bravo because I know (hope) this won't be the norm for him

Team is playing well over all, but strugling to score without the big boys up front.

Hardly a surprise. Last season Messi wore the armbands many times, right?

Busquets is also an obvious choice, and iirc LE said the players would vote on who the captains are so he must have been voted on.

many different websites saying the ranking is
xavi - iniesta - buscuit - messi

but honestly it matters so little, it's just who wears the armband

why? so he can complain to the fans when he fails?
instead of taking the mature and responsible route to admit he messed up or the team.

Damn your hate is strong Laughing

His complaints to the fans were nothing but the truth. We had 2 games with incredibly low attendances, leading to the lack of support the players got in the game.

Since when is telling the truth immature of whatever your moaning about.

He doesn't have the right to bemoan low attendances publicly. Unless he pays the tickets for the fans from his own pocket. If he doesn't he's a clown. That kind of attitude is everything that is wrong with modern footballers.

Let's not forget how he ended the season:

Dani Alves: "If this energy doesn’t change, I’ll probably leave because it wears you down. If I'm to stay this summer, there has to be a change of energy."

3 months later after not a single club wants to pay his ridiculous wages, not even PSG, he's "happy like a kid" and eager to play for Barca again. Maybe the 500 articles by MD and Sport about Alves being surplus is the "positive energy" he was talking about. Laughing

Oh rubbish. It wasnt money why there was low attendances, it was exactly what Bart already been complaining about...the season ticket holders often not coming to the games and not giving the tickets to others.

Bart already talked about this recently.

Finding it hard to take much stock in these preseason games with most of the first team missing. Nice to see the likes of Samper and Halilovic though. Shouldn't take stock in preseason anyway though, considering it's preseason Laughing

Official: Xavi, Mathieu, Song, Afellay, Adriano, Mascherano, Alves, Messi and Neymar don't travel to Finland for Saturday's friendly

Was mad when I forgot the release date to buy tickets to HJK-BAR, and the stadium sold out in about in one hour. But after reading that I'm glad I didn't throw the money away, I've already seen the boring spanish players in FIN-SPA.

Match organizers are getting a lot of stick now of putting Messi's face in the promotion and promoting it with the words: "See the likes of Messi, Xavi and co." One of the reasons of the match was to make people more familiar to finnish football, now I see the opposite happening when people are angry and disappointed.

Pedro will look like Messi against HJK.

I've been getting a kick out of watching the kids play. Samper, Adama and Halilovic in particular have impressed.

Rafinha with a cross, Munir puts it away with a header. 3-0

Munir with a brace and an assist so far, only 17 mins in.

is there are reason why Deulofeu starts on the bench??? He was on the bench against Napoli as well and only came on in the last ten minutes. With him being one of your most promising youngsters you'd think he would be an undisputed starter until Neymar gets back

idk, maybe he is being saved for the 2nd half. Looks like Lucho is trying to distribute time to Rafinha and Munir up front to see how they do, while Deulofeu has a first team contract and will playing for sure up front. pre season is to try and give guys your not too sure about a chance, after all

Lucho did make a comment about him not being happy with how much Deulofeu defends after the Napoli game. Maybe he's making an example of him to get his head on that he needs to press like everyone else

I like Rakitic's distribution so far.
Sergi Roberto has been the most active one with most runs IMO

When I saw this friendly announced (the HJK one), I thought to myself "what a pointless friendly for Barcelona to play, they have tougher training sessions" and so it turned out to be.

Re: Pre-Season Friendlies Thread

Based on this match, I feel Barcelona still need a CM of Xavi's mould (as impossible as it sounds) if they want to play the way we know them. Rakitić is completely different to Xavi. He is not the type of midfielder you'd want deep, in fact he doesn't even offer the mobility of Xavi in receiving passes and trying to act as a box-to-box to bring the ball forward. I remember some of you were nagging about Sergi Roberto being scared to possess the ball and passing it at every instance, well, Rakitić is very similar in that regard. Of course, he offers things that Xavi doesn't, quick passing, an eye for a shot and getting into goal scoring positions. But press him and he doesn't have a tenth of what Xavi offered. Hence the style needs to be altered.

And I still think you need a left back, unless Mathieu/Vermaelen can play there (they both started their careers as LB so maybe).
