Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Is there a way we can disguise ourselves as a bundesliga team to confuse Dortmund in the CL?
rename ourself to BorEnglandssia ArsenalGladbach maybe?

Özil already tried with the #MiaSanArsenal twitter hashtag, he just picked the wrong team.

Neuer he always wants to get involved in plays and the game but one of these days in a huge fixture he's probably going to screw up

BMG getting better, we're getting worse. Need some changes at HT.
I'd like to see Rode for Rafinha, Ribery for Bernat.

Rafinha is useless today, and it's no wonder we're significantly weaker without Robben and Boateng

As expected our strongest opponent this season. I would be happy with a draw right now

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
I blame 2 lost points on Pep. Away at Gladbach, 1st against 2nd is no place for idiotic experiments.
Letting Bernat, who is solid but nothing else play 90 minutes as left wing back/winger whatever, subbing on Ribery after 65m only to play him as right winger where he was 100% ineffective.
Inexplicable stuff.
Also, letting Dante play against his former club is nice but Boateng needs to start the big games, period.

Pfft. BMG lost 0:0 They had far more big chances, but Manuel Neuer was a football god today!

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Benatia is a really strong no nonsense defender, but sooner rather than later some decisions are going to go against him that will hurt us.

Yeah, Bayern couldn't have complained if they'd have gotten a penalty against them there.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Nope, we couldn't have complained. Elbows Traore.
The 'played the ball' one on Götze was a bit dubious as well, could be argued he had to foul Götze first to even rech the ball
Anyway, I'm a bit mad at this whole 'play Ribery as right winger' madness

Well, in a way I'm happy for the 0:0 - both my favourite keepers kept a clean sheet

Really great performance by Gladbach. I'm proud of them, but it could look much better (result). Tactically well-played match, but Neuer was excellent today.

Still finding it hard to believe Wolfsburg are joint second after their start to the season. Their team is as average as it gets besides 3/4 players (Gustavo, R.Rod, KDB & maybe Naldo).

Wolfsburg got no significantly weak link, and a solid coach. No reason to not do really well.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Perhaps you're both right. I just think their form is unsustainable considering how poor their defence and attacking options are.
They had their first clean sheet in 20 games against Ausburg earlier this month and a strikeforce of a 35 year old Olic and Nicklas Bendtner doesn't exactly scare anyone.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
so, following up from the stats thread, I was wondering whether or not the moment is arriving when Klopp needs to execute a changing of the guard in goal.
Weidenfeller is 34, while he's great and has been a pillar of the team, I think I've seen evidence in the past season where he looked shaky and like he might be becoming a weak link.
And his save percentage in the stat thread is 2nd worst of all BuLi keepers this season. Even though I know these numbers are not necessarily unambiguous.
Langerak has always performed well when playing so far, as far as I can remember.
But RWO you have reservation about his ball playing ability?
Fact is, Dortmund are conceding like crazy.
Now I haven't seen the games to judge all the exact reasons for that, and have no real clue whatsoever anyway.
But my GUT tells me Weidenfeller needs to be ousted.
What do you say.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, Mitch Langerak is a great shot stopper, but his passing accuracy leaves much to be desired. When he played the last matches when Roman Weidenfeller wasn't available, I had the impression that at least half of his passes when either off the pitch or to the opponent. (I just checked the stats and it looks my impression was right - his passing accuracy was an average of 59% in numbers.)Hapless_Hans wrote:Langerak has always performed well when playing so far, as far as I can remember.

I'm not sure that Borussia Dortmund will not need a modern keeper in the future who can open play and also do the libero work, like a Manuel Neuer does. Mitch is good as a number two, but I think Dortmund need someone who offers more than just shot-stopping ability.
