Was thrown straight into a very high intensity game. He did well imo.
They yellow he took was for the team as well. I was satisfied with his shift.

Not that. His overall positioning, tackles etc. was pretty decent IMO.Art Morte wrote:If you consider pass success rate of about 10% pretty decent, then yeah.

Nice to see a really dominant performance from him again. I think after he's settled and all is said and done he will come good for us as he's been good since being re-introduced and will only have more time to get comfortable. Playing as a CB with Rodgers is probably one of the toughest assignments on our team, and it's a steep learning curve (Sakho had his issues also).
Hope he can continue with performances like this (he was good against Hull also) and get some people to pipe down about him every other post, but more importantly aid Liverpool with defensive stability.

To be fair I've only said that he has the talent and ability to be a good player for us, and that he has not been as bad as people are making him out to be. I don't think he's our best defender, nor do I think that he's anywhere near the best defender in the league.
Basically I think he plays the part of scapegoat for the whiny fans that don't know the finer details of football in the Liverpool section.

You must have a very small penis if you're part of that group, because I've never gone missing and I've stayed vocal old son.
And also, you guys are the ones that talk about me / try and make this personal.

Re: Dijon 'Mustard' Lovren || #6
13/14 vs. 14/15
Lovren being one of our best players on day 1 and looking good in pre-season might have a lot to do with our midfielders actually providing cover for the defence so far. Obviously Stoke isn't the best test, but they are a good team. One of the upper-midtable teams and they certainly pumped us last season away from home.
He'll need to keep the form up, but he could be coming good for us with some settling. Not sure why so many people have given up on him already, or even want him not to succeed. I mean, he's a good tackler, he intercepts well, he has industry and pace for a CB, he pushes the play forward (oh god those Skrtel backpasses to Mignolet yesterday), he's strong in the air. He just needs to work on his concentration, and honestly being settled into the team will have a huge impact on that. Unlike Skrtel/Sakho he's actually vocal in organizing the backline as well.

Jokes aside, if he puts in a few more performances like this I think he can be an ok 3rd choice CB and EL starting CB.

Very apt that there was discussion of penises in Lovren's thread last season.

I've seen enough of Lovren to know I don't want him playing for Liverpool and I'm afraid my opinion will only be reinforced as the season goes on.

Yet, when you have a CB who since being hyped from Dinamo failed to impress in Lyon on a consistent basis (he was awful) followed by ONE decent season in a top league (at a mid-table club), then what does that bring you?
When Liverpool cease the habit of signing players from mid-table clubs whom have had one good season then we might progress further.
