He doesn't work well with any of Firmino, Coutinho, or Lallana. Looked much better offensively EVERY time Firmino starts up top by himself or even Origi playing and Benteke off the bench.
Perhaps it's Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho who aren't exerting themselves .

Benteke is more terrible than a black hole ! Every attack gets killed when the ball comes to him.

It can't be them because we actually create chances when they have Origi or Firmino or Sturridge playing in front of them.
It's Benteke.
The exact same thing EVERY SINLGE ONE OF US (except Brendan Rodgers lover) said will happen in the summer if we signed him is happening.

Art Morte wrote:I don't understand this dislike for Benteke. We've won two league games in the last six and Benteke has scored the winning goals in both. We're creating very few scoring opportunities and playing poorly as a team. Benteke isn't doing any worse in our attack than our other attacking players.
I agree. Earlier in the season Benteke was making some nice runs, some decent interplay as well and in general playing quite well. I think his injury turned him off a bit, but the issue is in our build-up. He's been quite isolated in a lot of the games he's started so players have resorted to hoofing quite a bit (and he's been a bit unlucky with some of his chances to be honest).
If there wasn't such a disconnect between the midfield/defence and attack Benteke would look better as would everyone in our attack.
That said even though I think Benteke is good, and has played mostly well, it is true that his qualities don't necessarily mesh with the way Klopp likes to play. I think mostly just in his energy levels. He doesn't have bad movement or link-up and he does drop deep to help out at times, but he just doesn't seem to have the energy or stamina to play that constant pressuring/movement type game. He can still be useful but I think he'd be better if we played 2 strikers or if he's used as an impact player to change up the attack when necessary.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
Milner's back, right?
Apart from the CBs, I think that's still fine for the Arsenal game.
Clyne - Toure - Ilori? - Moreno
Can - Lucas - AllenOrMilner
Lallana - Firmino
Benteke

Kent's come in as a direct replacement for Ibe who goes in the starting line up since Coutinho's out.
Canos is more of a striker who can play either side but we've got that shithead Sinclair so probably that's why we did'nt call him back.
Though i would call him back I agree with you, He's doing very well for a top championship team.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Kevin Stewart is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury in training at Melwood.
The midfielder, who made his Barclays Premier League debut for Liverpool as a substitute at Aston Villa on Sunday, picked up the knock attempting to block a shot and was subsequently sent for a scan to assess the damage.
“We lost Kevin Stewart in training,” Klopp said. “He blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable.
“It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan. We think it’s the ligament.
“He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good.”
Elsewhere, Klopp revealed Lucas Leiva will return to Liverpool’s squad for the Europa League trip to Augsburg following a minor hamstring issue, but Adam Lallana will not travel to Germany with a calf problem.
I'm starting to think klopp is a Jonah

Hendo's out for the season. Allen's chance? I wouldn't mind if it was Ibe's.

Can is suspended for the next 2 league games.
Lucas, Stewart and Rossiter still being out as well it means Allen-Milner CM spots most likely.
Hopefully Chirivella starts though.

The only way I would want to see Milner in CM is if we played a 3-man setup. I'd rather see Chirivella start alongside Allen, and then just have Milner tuck in beside the pair of them when support is needed.

Emre's out for 4-5 weeks, effectively the season unless we make the EL final.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
Yeah, he'll be missed, his ability to run with the ball is something no one else in our midfield has.
If - and probably when - Lucas is going to be starting now, we have to play a three-man midfield. Lucas cannot play in a pivot, he has to be the anchor with another CM either side of him. I guess we could try a Milner - Allen pivot, but it would probably fail.

I agree that Lucas is no longer capable of playing in a double pivot for us. He's simply too slow, especially in his decision making and distribution. However, I'm not sure he's really much better as an anchor. The same problems of his pace and poor distribution remain. The only difference is that more of the play is developing in front of him, and he's generally afforded more space and time on the ball. I do realize that this is the point of playing him there, I merely feel that it's an attempt to hide him in the squad when he's taking a spot from a more productive player. In other words, why would we want to shoehorn Lucas into the squad when he offers very little and forces us to remove an AM or a forward from the lineup?

Sakho was sent back to England. If the reports are true, it will be interesting how the situation unfolds.

Loris Karius broke his hand.
I believe this means we're going to be subjected to a few months of Mignolet.
