Rooney-Falcao
Its hard to see Mata and RVP being benched.. Surely 352 doesnt make sense anymore with the players they have..
Arent we to expect something like this?;
----------- De Gea ----------
Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
-------- Blind - Herrera -----
--- Mata ---------- Di Maria--
------ Rooney - Falcao ------
RVP - dat ambition
Mata on the wing would be terrible.I just feel that midfield trio in the 3-5-2 would provide better balance to the team.

Falcao is a poacher, that's pretty much the last thing they needed. Another stationary forward that lacks pace and can't run at players when you already have Mata, Rooney and RVP?
Anyway, with signings like this and Di Maria, the title is pretty much the aim now. Anything less and van Gaal will be sacked. Despite their extraordinary amount of spending this summer, are they really better than Liverpool, Chelsea and City?
Wenger's impotence (this was a spelling mistake but I decided to leave it) has forced him into another battle for 4th.
at least wait until all these new players play together for once buddy. Yes we have got these players. but apart from a 60 mins or so shift from herrera and a single match of di maria. who have you seen in our colors. it was young valencia and fletcher who played in the last match alongside di maria. So before you run into conclusions, its better if you just wait a bit.
Doesn't matter if your CBs are Jones, Smalling and Evans
wrong. it will be jones, rojo and smalling. and when wingbacks who are actually full backs will be ready we will have a back 5 of shaw-rojo-smalling-jones-rafael. Yea now speak.

Re: Radamel Falcao close to Chelsea move
Falcao has underwhelmed me at Monaco... hugely underwhelming even when he was healthy. Maybe he finds his old level back. Maybe he lacked motivation. Doesn't take away from the fact that he had absolutely no influence aside from scoring goals. Just how it is.
If people are expecting that Falcao is going to generate goals by himself... they are in for disappointment. Until Man U fixes its midfield and provides consistent service to its forwards, including Falcao... i think his impact will be negligible. I don't see an improvement from RVP to Falcao.

As long as Falcao is 28 and not 32, I dont see how he doesnt play as he did the last time he was relevant to me. Di Maria and Mata alone will put in the kind of service that he wants.

Man City were offered in Falcao, however they didn't put in a bid, according to Sky Sports.

Ligue 1 is a shite league.... rrrrrrrright. So nobody should care that alleged superstar strikers can't beat defenders regularly there other than Ibra. It has to be the league's fault that these players aren't any good there

Tbf Yanited were creating the chances at the weekend they were just not being finished.
Falcao would have scored at least once against Burnley.

Thats still worse than City, Chelsea and Arsenal's defence. Liverpools defence is possibly worse but they play very well as a unit, something which Utd are not doing presently and according to LVG, needs time. How many points will be dropped before it is ready?
Also, Rojo is still struggling with a work permit, is he not?

Re: Radamel Falcao close to Chelsea move
I'll add that the technical players have mostly done great other than Pastore (better this year). It's the guys who lack technique who have all struggled big time... not just Falcao and Cavani either. Been like this for a long time too.sportsczy wrote:Ligue 1 is a shite league.... rrrrrrrright. Technical players like Verratti, Motta, James, Berbatov and now Moutinho and Pastore... they look fantastic.
Bottom line is that it's not a league where you can just bruise and bully your way... they're used to that. Most of Ligue 1 is made of bruisers. What those teams cannot handle is technique because high technique is not that common. Teams are set up to do battle and win the physical battles, not the technical ones.

@Kick
yea he is. the international break so is a blessing in that regard.
Also its about adjusting to this new 'philosophy'. They are playing it for the first time a back 3. and LVG is right in a way I think that he is persisting with it rather than throwing it away now. At least it will give them a clarity of thought.
Smalling is a good cb where as Jones will take time to adjust to playing cb on a regular basis as well.
So once they start to click they wont be a bad combo certainly.
on top of that there are reports surfacing vlaars coming. probably just rumor. Bt if its true, he will fill in that vidic role somewhat as we lack a leader there at the back.

Re: Radamel Falcao close to Chelsea move
Right.
How did no technique Riviere score more than Falcao then?
Your league is shite mate and no one who doesn't need to prove himself gives a shit.
No wonder they come running to my shithole of a club every year.

the only players who lack self respect in ligue 1 are the ones who go to teams like newcastleGreat Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Who cares what he did in Monaco? Ligue 1 is a scrub league no self respecting player gives a shit about performing there.
this argument that foreign players like cavani , pastore , falcao , moutinho etc...aren't performing at the expected level because they don't care about " shitty" ligue 1 is beyond ridiculous .
apparently thiago motta, ibra, juninho , and ronaldinho didn't get the memo

Re: Radamel Falcao close to Chelsea move
He didn't. Riviere failed at St Etienne and was sold for very little to Toulouse. He got benched at Toulouse and was sold for very little to Monaco. He was benched while Monaco were in Ligue 2. Last season, he scored 8 goals in the first 2 months since Monaco had early injuries and needed to play him (shocking tbh) and then scored only 2 more from November until the end (10 total). His best season by farGreat Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Right.

riviere is more of a testament to how garbage newcastle are than an indictment of ligue 1.
dude failed everywhere ( including ligue 2 ) except for 2 months in monaco , and now he's starting for newcastle

sports, I don't care about 'talent', a club that makes a huge effort to reach CL and then sells his one, young star, and LOANS out his other star is a clown club, how else are you going to put it?

Di Marzio wrote:Radamel Falcao has made a decision, he will move to Manchester United. Red Devils beat all the competitors and have basically defined the operation with Monaco: they will pay €15M for the season-long loan. Moreover, they will cover the €12M wages of the player. He will leave for England in the afternoon. The Colombian striker is the deadline day gift for Luis Van Gaal.
Man U ripped apart here.

We'll see. Di Marzio is reliable and so is the BBC. I'll see where Nice Matin falls in this... they haven't reported a number yet.

City has a private jet ready in Nice for Falcao, in case they manage to sabotage MU's loan deal with Monaco.

Re: Radamel Falcao close to Chelsea move
So Di Marzio is talking about 12 millions euros net, it's not the first time he mentions that amount as being his wages in MOnaco.
So if the Tax in England is 45% for players, that's about £17,243,128.25 gross in the uk, and £331.6k per week.
Falcao is as of today the most paid footballer on the island

not only BBC, Sky are also reporting £6 mill with Monaco covering part of the wages. So this isn't very expensive tbf

Natalie Portman wrote:Man U have actually zero transfer strategy. Just panic station throwing money around at any star name available. Out-doing Perez ffs .....Putting all their eggs in one basket, while Johnny Evans is their leader at CB
love the fact that Mole/RED still think we "Fear" them. You'd think they've learnt by now
LOL! No strategy? Mate, we are having to do 2...yes TWO summer transfers in one Summer after that fail of last year, do you remember our only last minute deadline day purchase of Fellani? the only signing we made
We've already brought a CB/LB in Rojo, brought in Shaw, brought a versatile DM in Blind and bought in Herrera...plus Di Maria who can play in the middle.
Plus, who's to say we're done yet. We're obviously still in the hunt for more players.
So all this talk of "panic" buying is nonsense. We're spending money a juggernaught like United should for once. We should be up there buying players of the ilk that Barca/Madrid and Bayern buy. Not "value in the market" players we've seen come in that SAF managed to make look decent. What has that got us? We're having to get rid of them right now.
What we're doing is long overdue. It's about time the Glazers spend the money they rob off us.
Now let me taste the salt from them tears
