Neither, will add them to the list, along with True Detective. So much for running out of shows to watch.

I swear there was another very similar show that only got 1 season on tv a while back...RealGunner wrote:Blue Barrett wrote:Anybody watching "Forever"? Just watched the pilot. I'm sold.dostoevsky wrote:Haven't heard of it, what's the premise?
A 200-year-old man works in the New York City Morgue trying to find a key to unlock the curse of his immortality.
Damn that sounds kinda interesting. Will try and find time to watch.
EDIT: There was! It was called New Amsterdam, and it starred Jamie Lannister.

U.K.'s Luther series will return for two new installments in 2015!
Yes, Idris Elba will make a welcome return to BBC One and BBC America next year to reprise his role of DCI John Luther, the murder detective whose brilliant mind can't always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions.

Was just going to post that. Luther
Deadline reports that four actresses are vying for the title role in Jessica Jones: Krysten Ritter (Veronica Mars, Breaking Bad), Alexandra Daddario (True Detective, the Percy Jackson movies), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, I Am Number Four) and Jessica De Gouw (Dracula, Arrow's The Huntress).
Halo: Nightfall star Mike Colter and actor Lance Gross (Crisis, House of Payne) are being eyed to play Luke Cage, who Deadline claims "is designed to appear in 6-7 episodes of Jessica Jones and then topline his own series."

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
FX has ordered Taboo, a drama series from award-winning producer Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator), Academy Award-nominated writer Steven Knight (Locke) and award-winning actor/producer Tom Hardy - who will also star.
Scott Free Films and Hardy Son & Baker will commence production on the eight-episode first season mid-to-late 2015 in the U.K., with the series tentatively slated to debut in mid-2016. The series is being produced for BBC One in the U.K., with Sonar Entertainment distributing internationally.
Set in 1813, Taboo is based on an original story by Hardy and his father, Chips Hardy. In Taboo, Hardy plays the lead role of “James Keziah Delaney,” a rogue adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father. Refusing to sell the family business to the East India Company, he sets out to build his own trade and shipping empire and finds himself playing a very dangerous game.
Taboo was created by Knight (Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises, Peaky Blinders), who most recently wrote and directed the feature film Locke starring Hardy. Scott and Hardy will both serve as executive producers on Taboo.
“We are privileged to have landed Taboo and to work with this exceptional team led by Ridley, Tom and Steven,” said Eric Schrier, President of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions. “Tom’s passion for this project, from conceiving the original idea with his father to portraying James Delaney, promises to infuse this epic story with great personal passion and credibility.”
Scott said, "FX is the perfect partner to engage with this dark, fantastic world that Tom and Steven have created. We¹re glad to have them on board.”
Hardy added, “Taboo is the first major production our company, Hardy Son & Baker, is setting sail on, and it gives me great pleasure to know that we are in partnership with FX and the BBC. I believe with the high standard of creative talent - with Steve Knight and Ridley Scott at the helm - and with the support and backing of these two great broadcasters, we have found the perfect home and team for Taboo.”

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Homeland has been pretty good this season. Last season was a trainwreck so I'm glad they're back on their game.
The Good Wife has been sort of meh. The Newsroom is still corny as hell but it's not too bad. I loved The West Wing and Sports Night but this isn't anywhere near Sorkin's best work.
Shouldn't Rick and Morty be coming back soon?

I've seen a few sketches, I've never seen them regularly though. I only found about them when my friend recognised them in an Epic Rap Battle of History I sent him.
Their Fargo cameo though.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Black Mirror
I became ... aware!!!
What a recommendation. Big props to whoever mentioned it first on here.
Season 1:
The first episode was the most disturbing and mind-bending. Infact, I think it is the most disturbing and mind-bending of both season 1 & 2. Maybe because it is the most realistic of them all.
The other 2 episodes take a more sci-fi route. But just the way they weave an emotional story around humans and technology that gets you seriously thinking within 40-50 minutes is amazing. Each episodes has it's own story, this is an anthology, so it makes it tougher to build any suspense or emotion imo, but they pulled it off.
Season 2:
Episode 1 "Be Right Back"
Holy shit!
After I watched this one, I went on twitter and tweeted that I don't know I might be knee-jerking, but this is one of the best episodes in TV history.
This one packs an emotional punch deeper than any of the other 5 episodes. Just the way they unfold the story minute-by-minute.
Episode 3 was probably the worst of the whole series, but still good enough that it makes you think about the themes that it raises afterwards.
I don't know how to rate this show because each episode is one of its own, so maybe I'll just a give an overall-average rating on how I enjoyed all of the episodes thus far.
My rating: 8.7/10

- Spoiler:
- One minute the woman can chat with her dead husband on her laptop. Next she can talk with him and hear his voice. Next she can show him scenery through her cellphone so that they can experience stuff together. And then she can get some type of surrogate for him so that he can be right there with her! Exactly him, but not quite him! I just love how they build that up, and the acting between the two was very convincing and it always felt real. I thought it would end when she took him out to the cliff - thought he, or she, or both of them would jump. But then after that emotional scene, we see them a few years later. Their daughter is about 9, and he has been living with them this whole time (mostly in the attic as we get to see). This for me just made the episode more compelling than it would've been if it ended at the cliff scene. It made the episode more twisted, and I kinda had a numb feeling after it. Numb feelings = always a very good sign that the episode did it's job well.
Episode 3 was probably the worst of the whole series, but still good enough that it makes you think about the themes that it raises afterwards.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
I finally finished Ray Donovan. Great season! I can't believe it doesn't get more attention in GL.
The only annoying thing about it was Abby. Christ, she was awful. Why do these writers come up with such pathetic female characters? I can at least understand why Skylar (Breaking Bad) acted the way she did but Lori (The Walking Dead) and Abby have no reason to be like that. That's just very poor writing.

So, Supergirl can/will share the same universe as Arrow and Flash.
That would be quite cool.

Prison Break was absolutely amazing. Joint top with BB on all time list. Never thought I'd find a show that would be as good as BB.
There were some parts that were better than BB imo. Every episode was full of suspense, there was no filler and the cliffhangers, wow.
The ending.

I only watched season 1 and half of season 2 back then.
Need to finish it sometime.
But for now I'm finishing Dexter, then I'm watching Justified. And then probably there'll be time for Prison Break.
