Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
I think Empire is a musical soap opera. The music is good (for a tv show), the plot is really silly, the acting is uneven, and the dialogue is hilariously bad. But it's getting the ratings though.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Empire is indeed very over the top....in the same way Sleepy Hollow is very over the top.
Empire takes itself a little too seriously at times, but I don't mind it honestly. The most important thing with this show is that it's quite entertaining.

Loving iZombie. Very good start to the season. Most likely it's here to stay.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Dear Facebook Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.

Why would you announce it, if you haven't finished negotiations?

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Has anyone tried "Dig" starring Jason Isaacs?
Been watching the first 5 episodes. It's not bad honestly, but still rather predictable.
It's got a Da Vinci's Code style pace to it. No filler episodes, which is welcome. Also shows off some gorgeous shots of Jerusalem.

I really like Jason Isaacs so I'll give it a go.
Btw, we need more show recommendations in this thread. No matter how obscure it is. If you like it, share it.

Mad Men. Final season just started. It's very well known and critically acclaimed but very few people watch it here.
Better Call Saul has proved to be an outstanding show in it's own right. By far the best show currently airing now.
House Of Cards UK is excellent. On par with the American remake.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Some other ones I've been watching:
Outlander (not at all what I thought it would be, and that's perfectly ok)
American Crime (a slow burn, but liking it more and more each week)
The Blacklist (James Spader....nuff said)
Salem (turned out much better than I thought it would)
Once Upon A Time (Thoroughly good show, but the plot does frustrate me at times)

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
I think I'll finally give Mad Men a shot and I'm waiting for Better Call Saul to end so that I can binge watch it all. I have high hopes for it. I think I'll also give Salem a shot. I already watch Outlander and I completely agree with you. It's not what I thought it be and it's not what I'd normally watch but for some reason I like it. I'll also check out Izombie.
Thanks for the recommendations.
For me, The Americans is the best show airing on tv right now. Each new season is better than the last and this one has been amazing. Justified is also really good. It's not up to the high standards of the first few seasons but it's still one of my favorite shows and I'll definitely miss once it's off air. I enjoyed this latest season of Archer. I wasn't a fan of Vice but it's back to being what it was. Brooklyn nine nine is a pretty good half hour comedy. Banshee's last season was damn good. It just ended a couple of weeks ago. The Good Wife has been mediocre this season. It used to be one of my favorites but now some episodes are down right unwatchable.

Thought of watching Mob City because it's starting this week on tv over her and because Jon Bernthal, but then I read that there's not going to be a second season.

I loved it. Became so much better once Hardy came. Also that fellow that plays Cillian's brother is so great. Also in The Revenant with hardy this year.

Anyone ever watch Jericho?
Started it and 4 episodes in. Decent survival/Apocalytic show. Gets quite intense at times and the despite the loop holes on occasion, it's entertaining and gripping.
