Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
"We have to respect the decision of the socios, but they have opted to continue with the rivalry that exists in the club between the Laporta fans and the Rosell fans, who are now Bartomeu fans," Benedito said.
"We thought that we could overcome that bipolarisation, that there was room for an alternative, but it doesn't seem like that is the case.
"The bipolarisation has split the club in half, but we are not going to give up on our way of seeing Barcelona. We will not stop dreaming of a Barça that exists without these wars.
"You can see that there is not much difference between the two sides. I think we have led ourselves into an era at the club where there will not be too much peace." - Benedito

This is reminding me more and more of the British General election a few months back.

I don't get how that many people were in favor of Fart.

Main reason he won was Laporta's poor campaign.
And the treble... Let's not forget the treble.

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
Sporting-wise this won't have negative short term effects because the core of the team was already in place a long time ago (Alves, Pique, Busquets, Iniesta, Messi). Adding obvious super talent like Neymar and Suarez for huge money is not a big achievement. Long term they will ruin the club though, no doubt about it. Just imagine a team of Vermaelen, Alex Song, Rakitic, Arda, Aleix Vidal and the likes without the existing elite core that carries the club. Bartomeu has no sporting vision whatsoever, no doubt about it. Once Messi and Suarez pass the 30 year mark, with Iniesta already semi-retired at that point, the club will be done. I give it about 3 to 4 years.

When Messi likes Manchester United on Instagram after Bartomeu gets jailed in 1 - 2 years and his vice president takes over.

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
Having said all that, Laporta's campaign was a joke. Dude looked like he was just there because he was bored and thought showing up with Abidal and UNICEF world peace jibberish would be enough to beat GOATomeu.

Oh well, here is to a scandal that will bring him down. Even if the other 2 had dropped out it looks like Bart would have won anyways.

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
I am sure all of Madrid are delighted.
These players are the seriously the only thing to hold onto about the club nowadays. The spirit, what they stand for, the youth players, all of that..is gone or on its way out.
These great players, they save the club from looking a total shambles because of their exceptional ability. By the time the core group are all gone (half already are gone obviously) I will revere them even more than I already do for not just carrying us through these times but allowing the club to excel as we do, on the pitch.
When they go, there will truly be nothing left to love but what the club used to be.
I will always love this club no matter what, in comparison to the darkest days these are good times to be a Barca fan....but I have never been as upset by an election as today.
Shame on these voters. They are like children, having their head turned by shiny trinkets.
It is only made worse by the fact, given his age (74 by the next election, too old to surely be counted on in any fashion) it will be too late to see Cruyff returned home where he belongs..instead, the reason we are what we are today is made to sit outside the club like a hostile intruder.
And there is noone to blame but the fans now, for allowing this to happen and re-electing this circus clown of a president.
I cant believe how unhappy I am with a club which wins as much as we do. Especially as im not exactly a new fan.

Agreed 110%
I'm really, really disappointed. If I didn't have so much love for the club I would seriously consider walking away at this point

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
we'll survive
we really, really need enrique to pick up the slack
bart is clueless and just listens to instructions if enrique asks for a better youth system (coach be it whatever) he'll listen.
that or we can massively fuk up and wait till our lord and savior Xavi comes in and pulls a cryuff 2.0 and installs all his beliefs

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
Well, this was not what I expected. Been quietly following and I'm not entirely sure how he won. That is, is that it was only fans outside the club's socio structure who disliked Bart and his management team? That their voices were so loud they couldn't hear others or what was the obvious? If you lovely gents could explain the "how" and "why", that would be most appreciated.
Also, I agree with Jonathon, it is quite similar to the British General elections.

We Internet ppl in the age group of "16 - 30-ish" are fundamentally different from the majority of people in Barcelona who hold club membership and are closer to Franchise's age group. The age group of voters who voted most for every candidate:

Oh, yeah. Bart also got the most female votes. Basically grandpas and people who don't understand the sport elected him (rwo and À bout the souffle will kill me now but it was worth it).

There should be online voting so that the elderly have minimalized access.Fußball wrote:We Internet ppl in the age group of "16 - 30-ish" are fundamentally different from the majority of people in Barcelona who hold club membership and are closer to Franchise's age group. Online voting with no Internet access in kitchens.
Sigh, I'm super funny today. That's what this result does to me.

I just realised that Bartomeu will be the prez until Messi is 34, basically until Messi retires from Europe.

I'm soooooo crushed. We are seeing everything we love about our clubs fundamentals get destroyed right before us.

It's not about the sporting level though. On that level Barca is fine so Messi will keep winning things here. It's about the traditions and all the stuff around the club.
