We got Paletta for 1m according to Sky . Impressive , very impressive .

3 defenders in January , this is surely without precedent , at least for Milan , and it only means one thing .

CB fodder are already searching for new clubs . Mexes-Zapata-Bonera , 100% 2 of them will be leaving Milan . I'd give it a solid 80% for all 3 to leave , and 100% if Bocchetti is bought . If we don't buy Bocchetti , then Zapata may have his last chance with Milan next season , but it's still highly unlikely as i see it. Even fodder like Zapata seek to play regularly at that age . Alex - Rami - Paletta will all be ahead of him , so i am quite sure when i am saying the chances are very good that all three , Mexes , Bonera and Zapata might be leaving in the summer.

I'd would have said Zaccardo too , but he won't , that is clear by now . Milan is the only big club he ever found himself and he will only leave when his contract runs out . Tbh , i can honestly respect that , i would have done the same really.

So Paletta , i welcome that grinta ffs Proud chop some feet you soon-to-be-bold beast Proud

Trust me , escaping Parma right now will have such a huge positive impact on his mentality , at least for this half season he will be a beast for us , i think he will start many games next to either Rami or Alex .

I don't care how cheap Paletta is, this is an absurd transfer. Which other club has 7 central defenders in their team? Each new addition more incompetent than the last? Paletta has been awful all season and though he's had little protection this is just another typical example of a short term solution that will just cause issues later.

Instead of fixing our central defence this summer we've brought in two options who aren't good enough and offloaded none. Mastour should be watching carefully how we view our youth team and find the nearest exit in all honesty.

Yep. As I said earlier, there's not 1 potentially great (or even good) CB among our purchases. Not to mention that there are no stand-outs among these dregs. This means Inzaghi will change the CB pairing every game and, in doing so, ensure the chaos continues for the foreseeable future.

Jokes aside, this transfer is unsurprising. 28 year old with no upside at all. We have officially went from DMilan to CBilan

So we either have four permanently ticked off defenders or four permanently ticked off inflexible attackers. Laughing

We're going to spend all summer cutting the squad back to a reasonable size instead of actually improving it.

We're loaning Matri back to Juventus a season after buying him from them for 11 million euros. There's not even an obligation to buy.

potentially great defenders don't just come on loan or for 1m during January . Let alone that such players pop up once in decades , even if we had the money for such a player he certainly wouldn't have come during January . That we just got 3 defenders during January is something by itself , wishing for more when we normaly would stay with Mexes-Zapata-Bonera-Armero is utopian . There's a very good chance all these 4 could be gone by the summer , aren't you at least in the mood for that ? cause 3 defenders during January can only mean a clear-out of the fodder come June . We can look for better players then too .

dostoevsky wrote:I don't care how cheap Paletta is, this is an absurd transfer. Which other club has 7 central defenders in their team? Each new addition more incompetent than the last? the quality of the players might not be what we would all want for Milan , but compared to the fodder , Mexes-Zapata-Bonera-Armero , i'd have Paletta-Bocchetti-Antonelli any day . Mid-table additions nonetheless , but prefferable to players like them who are simply finished at Milan . And Bocchetti is only our player on loan , we have really nothing to lose from this . His signing screams of 'let's give him a chance' and that's it. If he doesn't convince , he will leave in a few months and that will be it . Atm , he's certainly prefferable to Bonera , let's say . As for Paletta , there's nothing really absurd. We just resqued a player from relegation battle and uncertain pay , to giving him a chance to play for Milan , maybe challenge for regular even . For 1m , when last year he would have easily moved for 7-9m , that's an incredibly low-risk - high return signing. I'd say he is at least on Astori's level and while Astori isn't really your ideal CB , atm he would be starting each and every game in this Milan.

I preffer to look at the positive move that was made here , it is a crystal clear message to these players that they are not in the team's plans anymore . Once we get rid of the parasites , players like Paletta or Bocchetti and even Antonelli if he doesn't make it , you can easily get rid off of. Players like Mexes-Bonera-Zapata who get paid so well and play below-average you can't get rid of , hence why they are still here.

I reiterate , look at the bigger picture . We didn't pay much , they don't get paid much , we can always get rid of them at any moment if we so wish . I don't get the negative vibe just because they are mid-table signings , we really couldn't wish for anything better than what happened , not in January , at least you i thought you understood this. Our goal is to get rid off the known fodder , these players we just got we can offload at any given point in time . The positives here outweight the negatives , no matter how average the players are. Leave aside how we just saved ourselves from having to watch the fodder all the time in the 2nd half of the season , we will have our best chance to get rid of them yet , while also ensure we would be doing whatever we can to reach at least the EL . Mexes is already out anyway , Paletta is his replacement . Bocchetti will be signed if we don't renew Bonera and Antonelli just replaced Armero . Zapata has in front of him Alex-Rami-Paletta atm and regardless of what happens with Bocchetti , he will have him or Bonera to compete for game time and 3 players in front of him . Would you like that , at his age , also being a starter for his NT ??? Nobody would , it's a clear gtfo for Zapata too. There's no way he won't at least consider his options come the summer. I think he will consider them options very , very seriously , cause shit just got real for Zapata .

I really don't share the negativity on this one . Obviously i am not by any stretch of the imagination "excited" either with mid-table signings , but when i look at the bigger picture , i can't but see the positives . There really was no better way for Galliani to get rid of the fodder . Besides , this defence badly needs a refresh , if only for the foreseeable future . There's no way we would get at least a EL place relying on Mexes-Zapata-Bonera-Armero , no way at all . Now we have a chance at least.

Paletta alone I could understand but in addition to Bocchetti the entire operation remains an example of lethargic, reactionary management. You essentially take market activity as the principle means of encouraging unwanted players to leave, which is reasonable, I can accept that. Why are such operations taking place now though? Well managed sides don't need six January signings. Why wasn't such investment made in the summer if we were desperate to clear out these players? The only answer I could even provide would be that in the summer, we couldn't be as cheap and canniving. What we're describing isn't sound management, it's throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Replacing Bonera with Bocchetti is an exercise in futility and distraction, if he's even good enough. If only Paletta had arrived I'd have had little complaint but I'm sorry, I am not impressed with market activity that's little more than a passive aggressive ploy to get rid of dead wood that Galliani brought in earlier, equally disastrous windows.

Antonelli is a different story however. He's not an international class defender but he's probably been the best left back in Serie A this season and is an excellent pick up to provide a bit of balance on the left.

We continue to be linked to Atalanta's Baselli.

Obviously we weren't and still aren't a well managed side , 6 players hardly made me have a different opinion about that. And certainly i didn't praise Galliani for anything , just the clear move to get rid of the fodder is all i find positive and necessary . The reasons you gave as to why we didn't do such a thing in the summer also count , but most important of all is what we've always knew , they are just incompetent , they either couldn't offload or didn't wish to , right now after 1.5 year of failures they were simply forced to do so and that's what i keep. At least it really begun , that's what matters to me , i never praised Galliani for anything this January . If he wanted to be a true Guru he should already have found new home for the fodder by now , but i'll take this major move to deal with it in the summer instead of creating the circumstances for them to stay even more.

Galliani is only trying to fix his mistakes and i honestly see no better way than what he did , even in the summer you can't just find a new team for Mexes , who was going to sign him?? Zapata , really? Who else will fall into this trap? Bonera lol. Again , either they couldn't or wouldn't , i keep the fact we are moving toward the expulsion of the poison. It's like owning a bad loan and attempting to pay it back with a cheap one . Once you get rid of the cancer-loan , the cheap one won't be half as difficult to handle . That's what is happening here .

As for Bocchetti , it's obvious the dude is your new Bonera , either Bonera stays or whatever and i agree with how you put it , but again , the end does justify the means in this case . There's a big difference between keeping Bonera or Bocchetti , no matter how similarly average they both are.

Bonera we can't get rid of and we pay millions for him each season and he's most always a disaster . On the other hand , Bochetti is cheap , we got him for nothing and we can always sell him back very easily even if he signs in June . That's exactly what shall happen , even if he stays .

Antonelli i agree , i think that was the most solid out of the 3. Again , when in the summer we will be getting rid off of Mexes-Zapata-Bonera-Armero , you won't be complaining as you do now.. and there's one Bocchetti who's on loan , who knows what will happen really ? Better players than him left after positive spells , i wouldn't be surprised to see him leave .

ATM , like i said , i'd have all 3 of them and sort it out in the summer with the fodder gone , no matter how panic buy - reactionary it seemed , shit hit the fan , it had to happen. There's nothing to praise , we are just trying to fix mistakes .

Why Paletta and Bocchetti ? Because they both earn near what Zapata does and they are EASILY REMOVABLE. It matters . The goal is to get rid of Mexes-Zapata-Bonera-Armero . Once the fantastic 4 leave , having to deal with one Bocchetti will be nothing . What has happened here is exactly this , sometimes you have to lose something to get something better . Our previous defence has failed and for what we paid for those 3 , it won't hurt us to give them a chance . Paletta just replaced Mexes and Antonelli replaced Armero , one Bocchetti can hardly make me disilusioned , who in the end stays or not it will be a short term case .

The great win of this transfer market is this : we have done the necessary steps to get rid of Mexes-Zapata-Bonera-Armero and if Baselli does join as rumoured , Essien 100% . That will be a cure for Milan . Cure . Players like Bocchetti will always rot in the bench whatever we do and we can always look for better options in the summer .

I think this summer a massive revolution is going to happen in the defence and midfield . I don't expect Thiago Silva to come back , but we won't be witnessing the horrors of the last 2 seasons , not when the fodder is away. Even if we replace them with additions like Paletta and Bocchetti , cheap fodder can always be replaced very easily .

From all our signings , what i gather your issue is , why get more possible fodder in both Paletta and Bocchetti ? Especially Bocchetti. But it's just one player on loan afterall .. if he is the reason we lose Bonera or Zapata from our wage bill however , again , it will be losing something to get something better. There's a strategy behind these signings , for me at least it is very clear to understand that Galliani is finally dealing with the mistakes he created. It may seem he added more , but in the summer when the clear-out happens and the balance emerge , i think we would have earned money even from players left and the new triplete.
