So playing a player who has thrived as a CM in 3 different situations and playing him upfront isn't a problem lol?

Term it how ever you want, he's playing out of position and has been since he returned from injury. He was fine in his natural position and suddenly struggles to perform when he's being deployed outside of where he's effective.

It's completely on Van Gaal, playing someone who thrives at driving at teams and penetrating the defenses up front is utterly moronic because he's constantly back to goal and no space to drive.

It's the equivalent of deploying an attacking fullback as a winger just because he has some offensive qualities, it's utterly stupid. Also you say it's on him to create for the team? Yh he was when he actually was used in a position where he's effective, how can you expect someone to perform for you when you deploy him in areas where his strengths are completely negated.

Thoughts on the league cup final tomorrow?

Chelsea are obviously favourites but with Matic not playing and Tottenham's recent result against Chelsea in the PL. I don't know?

In the last few finals the neutrals have at least had Sunderland, Swansea, Bradford, Cardiff, Birmingham, Aston Villa to root for.

It's kind of shit that we get a final where the best scenario would be if a meteor hit the stadium.

It will be tough for Tottenham specially after playing midweek against Fiorentina. They need to bounce back from that even with fatigue of their main players like Eriksen. EL was a lost opportunity but they can take used the second chance and get a trophy. I go for Erik Lamela TIM

I've a bad feeling about it. We've been pony since the New Year (incidentally their thrashing of us on NYD) whereas they're soaring and full of confidence. This is also their only chance of a trophy this season — and, let's face it, the closest they're likely to get to one for awhile given the way their seasons usually tend to go — and our players have been guilty of complacency on too many instances going back years to be completely trusted. Even still, on the big stage we do seem to play nearest to our potential, and with José as manager, as well as the obvious superiority of our squad to theirs, along with the fact that they played a tough game in Italy just a few days ago whilst we've had 8 days rest, we'd still probably have to be considered favourites.

The natural position where he excelled at the beginning of his stint here was in a 4-4-2 diamond. Back then, rvp and falcao, (or wilson), especially van persie was putting decent shifts. Now their contribution to the team is almost non-existent. So you know, the situation changed. Hence playing further one step behind 2 stationary strikers, and limiting the attacking threat he poses, would have been perhaps thought out as spilling of his impact on the game or something.

So its like lvg first of all is making a serious blunder by persisting with misfiring forwards and then to pull the rug over the dirt, as a cover for the mistakes he already were committing, was banking on the creative qualities of di maria. to deliver.
So dont get me wrong, I am livid that he is not dropping van persie, and lvg has been so far been a disappointment, no second thought about that, but having said that , as any loyal fan would do, after knowing there is no use pining over the rotten apples, I am simply looking at the fresh carton, the next best option. So even if we are deprived of di maria's defensive contribution, if he can at least create chances and do the playmaking effectively, so be it. Do that at least! The other creative players in the squad were warming the bench until now or we can say most of the time anyway.

After watching Di Maria for 5 years i can safely say that he is an inconsistent player. You guys have to get used to it. He can look like a player who needs a brain transplant in one game and best player in the team in other game.

Di Maria should not be given the task to create. While he has excellent through ball and crossing skills he is a bit too much trigger happy while attempting them. The best role for him is always far away from the goal as he becomes inconsistent closer to the goal.

Play him as an engine and dont ask him to create , he lacks the patience and brain.

Sterling has not been very good since Jamaica. Such a well worked play near the half by Liverpool and he fails to do anything with it again.

An entertaining match, but our finishing has been off. The one time Lallana found a great finish from tiny angle he was offside. The two better chances he shoots straight at Hart and misses.

I'd take Moreno off, put Sterling in LWB and Sturridge up front, if he's just fit to play.

Sturridge not starting is precautionary. He's the most injury prone guy in the squad who played a lot of minutes on Thursday. He's fit but I'm sure we couldn't afford to give him more than 30 minutes this game.

All his career? He played on the left hand side of cm in a diamond mf at Benfica. Mou changed him to a winger and the Ancelotti put him back in mf. What a load of rubbish. At least do some research before you make yourself look foolish, although it's clearly to late for that. His best performances at Benfica where in midfield and if you haven't guessed it, his best position at Madrid was at cm as well.

He's not even that good on the wing ffs, pathetic when teams buy top players just to *mess* with them and play them out of position

Brb Cavani is a lethal #9 with good work rate, let's spend mad money on him and slap him down as a 2nd full back

Di Maria was Madrids MVP at times playing in midfield, let's see how he does up front fkn yolo swag #banter

Coutinho was ours  Crying or Very sad  what a team we could have ...

Anyways  , Pellegrini again outclassed by Rodgers.

Over-hated manager by most LFC fans. He is doing again well  , in very difficult situation after Suarez' selling and it was not easy to restart psychologically after the bottle job last year

but why are we sure Benitez would have done better than him this year  ?
I suppose he should be first with Napoli in Serie A to follow this argumentation. ( 3rd, in Serie A).
