Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club II
I was honestly thinking at the 70th minute mark "If I were in charge, i'd be getting Messi off, he is doing nothing but walking around".
Then bam! two goals out of no where.
He is a class above, tbh.

Strong argument. No really, something isn't true because you say it is, and a bunch of gifs isn't an argument, particularly when there is nothing in them other players haven't done.

Really? He was doing nothing? Just go one page up on this thread and see some gif's Harmonica has posted and you will see that prior to his goal he was involved in at least 3-4 very good chances that were saved only because Bayern have a super saiyan goalkeeper. He was dangerous during entire match. He did not get involved as usual, but the whole team saw less of the ball than it is usual for Barca.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club II
Im not suprised we didnt see much of Messi in the second half - its a bit of a tactic. Alves & Rakitic werent producing much on the right flank and Messi was in the middle alot, so we shifted to iniesta/neymar for a big portion of the game, on the left. Needless to say Bayern adjusted their defense and shifted to the left - at that moment Messi can get away from his man-marking or even zonal marking. I dont care if he walks 89 minutes of the game - he delivers when he gets the chance. Give him 1 second, 1 meter, and he will destroy you.

And some people still doubt that he's the GOAT
Some even think CR is better
Boateng is on suicide watch after being publicly humiliated last night

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club II
As I said many times, teams collectively train to stop Messi, which is worse than traditional man marking. It's like quoting myself when I quote Mourinho nowadays. The man with logical truths.
"Messi is unique and always makes the difference. With him, any team can win the Champions League. He has been the most dangerous rival I have ever had to face – and many times, too. Each time I would spend hours and hours thinking of the best way to stop him collectively, because it is impossible to man mark him." - Jose Mourinho

Gattuso on stopping Messi
The former Italy and AC Milan midfielder said to reporters: "How to stop him? I would not know how to coach players to do that. Perhaps man marking - or even a little kick!"

Only a handful players in the world can do that. Maybe even less.
