Manchester United Vs Arsenal[FA Cup]

Post by RealGunner on Sat Mar 07, 2015 12:03 am

Underrated

Manchester United Vs Arsenal
Monday 9th March: 7:45 BST UK
Old Trafford

Change

There was a time when Arsenal vs United was considered to be one of the most exciting fixtures in the league. The times where the matches were unpredictable and there was genuine excitement around. Times when Arsenal would come from a goal down to win the game right at the end or the times where United would win against the run of play and expectations. But it's all changed now. The matches started to get repetitive and the result, predictable. As a matter of fact, Arsenal have yet to win against United since the likes of Nasri, Van Persie, Song and Clichy were still at the club. And that was back in 2011.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't get excited anymore when it comes to United. It's not that we are a poor side. We are better than them in every single position bar GK. It's to do with broken mentality. Whether it comes from the manager or the fans or the players. It's there. And it's going to be there till we break the wall. How? no idea. It could happen this monday or it will happen in 3 years. But until we change our mentality, we are not going to get anything from the Arsenal Vs United games.

I don't know what is going to happen on Monday. I want to be hopeful. I want to say that we are definitely going to change things. We are going to do the unthinkable and get a win at O.T for the first time since 2006. But is there a point in being hopeful?

I hope there is.

Team News

For Arsenal, Monreal might be back but Gabriel is out. Rest of the team is as before.

For United, RVP is supposedly out till April so at least he won't score against us.

Possible Arsenal Team

------------------------------Szczesny---------------------------------
Bellerin-----------Mertesacker-------Koscielny-------------Monreal
-------------------Coquelin---------Ramsey---------------------------
Walcott---------------------Ozil-------------------------------Sanchez
--------------------------Welbeck---------------------------------------

Possible United Team

---------------------------De Gea---------------------------------------
Valencia------------Smalling--------Rojo------------------------Shaw
--------------Blind-------------Carrick-------Herrera-----------------
Di maria------------------Rooney--------------------------Young

Match Facts

  • Manchester United have only lost once to the Gunners in all competitions (W11 D3).

  • Arsenal have not won at old Trafford since September 2006, when Emanuel Adeybayor scored the winner five minutes from time.

  • Manchester United have only lost once at home (against Southampton) since their opening day defeat by Swansea.

  • They have the joint second best home defensive record with Southampton, conceding ten goals. Only Chelsea have conceded less.

  • Arsenal have lost their last their last two FA Cup games against Manchester United, conceding six and scoring none, since defeating the Red Devils on penalties in 2005.

  • The Gunners have won three of their last four away matches in the league, only losing in the North London derby.

Final say

Wele hattrick pls

Great preview RG. but:

We won in 2011 when Ramsey scored a winner at the Emirates.

The thing with big games is, historical win/loss percentages don't matter as long as you have the mentality. But for most of the fans, including me, OT is a lost cause anyway. Even when we play the best football in a decade of our history, we'd still lose to a Rooney dive, a GK masterclass, a blind Ref or a defensive cock up. Heck, we'd probably even lose because an asteroid crashed into Neptune while we are playing away at OT

I lost faith in this fixture when we played our full strength side against a midfield of Rafael-Gibson-O'Shea-Fabio and still lost 3-0.

Great work RG.

So, will Arsenal win a trophy in 2014/15 season? We may find out on Monday night.

No win at Old Trafford since 2006 (when Baptista and Hoyte were still playing for us!!!). No excuses. We need a good performance.

Nice job RG. Thumbs up

It's been a tough time against United for Arsenal and their fans in the last 10 years no doubt.

And I know we say this every time, but change is imminent!
I would really really love us to retain the FA Cup this season. This is still our cup and I hope the players play like that tomorrow night.
Last year's victory felt more like a big relief to the build up of mockery, criticism, many shortcomings in finals and sad times in the 9 years before. And because of that I, as I feel similar it must be to other gooners as well, didn't enjoy it that much. Or enjoy it as much as I should have.

If we win it this year again, then that will definitely be more joyuos. Especially as we know how difficult it is to retain any title after winning it the previous year in England. So let's go out there tomorrow night and overcome our mental deprivations against United. Let's stand up and defend our title with hunger and passion. Let's put in a performance which leads us to a victory against these pos's!

COME ON MY BEAUTIFUL ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in my humble opinion, a draw will be a solid result. Man Utd will have to play the replay at Emirates which will cause the fatigue, help them drop points in league, and you have a much better chance of beating them at Emirates.

hope Wenger reads this and plays 10-0-0

So when was the 4-0?

if they play like that who knows Arsenal might even win it. I think the mentality issue will be single handedly put away by players like Sanchez.

Liverpool's vested interested in an extra fixture apart, I'd much rather have an away win to get that monkey off our back. :coffee:

Nice work RG.

Our record against United is just embarrassing. I dont know what Wenger says before the game because we dont show up and always give up easy goals.

I never feel good playing them, you cant beat luck. We couldnt beat them at home when they had weaker defense and everyone one else was putting few goals past them.

To think how many times Arsenal would have smashed Utd if only Wenger had bothered to tell players before the game that it's important to win. How else would they know?

Wenger

I remember that game

Wasn't it the game where Gilberto Silva get pissed after the game at Nani for showing disrespect to Arsenal for toying around too much during the game. Laughing

to be honest, the biggest positive of that 2-0 loss a few weeks ago to Rafael-Osha-Gibson-Fabio midfield was that was the game that made Pogba want to leave.

Arsenal taking one for the whole league Proud
