Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
This season was the first time since 92 that an English club failed to make beyond R16 in either El/CL. Anomaly at this point. If this happens again, which is unlikely, then there is a cause of worry.
Top 3 spots doesn't really matter since they all get the same Cl spots. But it's important to keep the distance from the 4th placed team.

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
This thread is premature as hell. First time in five years that Italy has a higher number of points than England and we're already projecting when they'll take over?
If anything the EPL will just buy Serie A and take it's European spots if it feels threatened enough.

We are not really projecting when they will take over, but what would be required for it. I think most people here don't think that Serie a will outperform the EPL for the next 2 seasons.

Only chance is if Serie A do another Europa league mop up, PL teams seem to resent playing in it now, ironically that's how Serie A phucked up originally.

Do you have an idea in which pot Yanited will land if they make top 4? Defo not seeded anymore so you might end up in a group with Bayern, Mehdrid etc.

Meh not worried, while all this speculation is good, we (mule leaguers) have got major dough coming our way with the new TV deal. Gonna keep buying all the goat Serie A players that keep the league afloat.

A bit misleading. Italy would overtake England in the ranking, but would get the 4th CL team back only a year later respectively, 2017/18 or 2018/19

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
EPL had a record breaking TV deal from 2013-2016 (only to be broken again for 2016-2019) which everyone thought would bring lots of quality to the league.
So EPL fans shouldn't be entirely confident that more money will keep them safe.

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
The EPL generates almost three times the revenue of the other top 4 leagues, which have about equal earnings. Spain, Italy and Germany have about the same money (revenue) to play with now, but Italy will probably show more growth as more clubs build their own stadiums. So, those three leagues compete on a relatively even pitch money wise, pardon the pun. It does not seem, however, that money alone makes a league successful in Europe. Ukraine has two teams remaining in Europe, for example, while Portugal has only one. Not to mention that England has none with all that money. So, national style of play, tactics and coaching, conducive to Europe, has a lot to do with success in Europe. There are only a finite number of quality players that the EPL can warehouse, there are many quality players available worldwide.

Only 3 quarterfinalists from EPL since 2011. From 2008-2011, EPL had 11... so it isn't just a one year thing. When Chelsea won CL, you couldn't call it inspiring

Big swing in top four UEFA coefficient this year
League------2014-2015 Points----------Teams in Europe
Spain---------16,357-------------------------4/7
Italy----------16,166-------------------------3/6
Germany-----15,000-------------------------2/7
England------13,571-------------------------0/7
With four teams left in the competitions, Spain should widen its lead over the other leagues.

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
France is at 10.750 pts. so if the 2 French teams manage to get 2 wins out of the 4 quarter final games (4 points to 14.750), they will leapfrog England for 2014-2015, probably for the first time they have ever done so, at least since the last 2 decades.

By the way, this is my favourite coefficient overview:

Here you can nicely see how many points each club made for the overall coefficient:

UEFA coefficient gap between England and Italy is now less than 4 points going into the next season, potential for it to decrease further depending on the results of Juve, Napoli and Fiorentina.
Serie Zzzz now has more coefficient points this season than the Bayern Training and Feeder league in the year of the Dortmund-Bayern final, highlighting the importance of the EL for these rankings.
The La Liga gap with everyone else is just monstrous
