Arsenal V Chelsea Empty Arsenal V Chelsea

Post by Kick Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:52 am

Game is three hours off.

We probably need a thread.

Courtois
Ivanovic Cahill Terry Azpilicueta
Fabregas Matic
Willian Oscar Hazard
Drogba

Costa is out, Remy is a doubt. I can't imagine we'll change the tactics too much from last week. Not losing here is the most important part.

I imagine we'll play for a draw or a counter attacking sort of thing like we did for United.

Just curious to see who starts

Wasn't too bad a half. Doesn't look like we will get more than a draw though.

I really hope Oscar is ok.

Glad to stop them winning, that was the important thing, but either team could have won. How there was no penalty called for either team is beyond me.

Willian was solid. Dave was fantastic, as was JT and Gaz.

Not surprising to see Oscar played in the false 9 role over Hazard and Cesc. He has the best off the ball movement out of the three, on a numerous occasions he found space and get behind the arsenal back four. He is also the best presser out of the three. I think you could have made a case for another penalty for the one where he was brought down by the Arsenal RB.

Willian looked really good. I may come off as one of his biggest critic, but he is just not a RW. He is a much better player on the LW/CAM role. Was great at pressing and looked dangerous going forward. Although he did hold on to the ball way too long at times.

Hazard and Cesc, were quite disappointing.

Matic and Ramires were solid. Matic still nowhere near his best.

JT was gawd, a classic JT performance. Azpi was also outstanding.

Oscar was playing CF, not false 9. False 9 indicates he was dropping deep and running at the CB's, he wasn't, most of the time he was occupying CF space.

CAM Role for Willian.
He is not a good scorer.
But he will spoof the midfield of the opponents, will run anywhere, intercept balls and provide decent assists.
His ball handling skills are very good, so he could handle a player and sometimes two in closed spaces.
He will also attract more players to mark him.
Its very difficult to mark him with only one player.
His speed is average to good but he makes up for it by good positioning sense and ball handling skills.

And he links up perfectly with Hazard.

For those who want to refer me to stats (Willian's average contributions), please don't bother.
I don't really care much about stats for players who are under radar. I know when a player is well utilized or not. Willian is just starting to find his feet.

I would play Willian over Ramires.
Ramires should not be playing for Chelsea.

I know you guys love Cesc, but I find him slow.
For me the governing factor for player selection is speed.
The reason why Chelsea were not efficient yesterday (one of the main reasons) was the inefficacy of Cesc. Hazard loves him so he among others kept feeding him the ball and Cesc kept losing it. Chelsea gave the ball away very easily when Fabregas had it.

Oscar / Ramires / Fabregas are not good enough.

Cesc dictates the tempo of our games, he is vital to us.

Calling him not good enough shows how much you consider about our games and how much you knee jerk.

Of that list, I would only get rid of Ramires.

What tempo is that which you are referring to? We are a team with no structure and we don't play free flowing football.

The facts and conclusions I came up with are not based on this game only but on Cesc's performance during the entire season.

Cesc has contributed to about 25% of our goals this season. Yet he isn't good enough for us? Mmmkay.

And the lack of form from our team has affected him, so you clearly didn't watch him in the first half of the season, or you are neglecting it.

I have already answered all your questions in depth on several occasions. You are hung up on surface level stats just like the majority. One day you will come to understand but right now you're not ready.

I will try and explain to you later if we cross paths one more time on the same subject.
