I'm surprisingly much sadder about this than I anticipated. Legend. No young player like now seems likely to take up his mantle.

I also wish he went somewhere better than Qatar, but I'm not going to begrudge him the chance to make bank prior to his retirement

I might get killed for saying this. but I allways liked iniesta a tiny bit more. but both are outrageously good.

Nothing wrong with liking someone more than the other even if he isn't as good.

I enjoy watching Riquelme more than Xavi for example.

I dont know why, no reason I can think of at all, but this somehow an sadder day than even Puyol to me.

I hope he can go out on a high note by lifting the CL one final time as a player.

I think Barca fans have long since figured that he cant be replaced and him leaving changes alot, even though he now has a bit part role.

His leaving is truly an end to something. He is the last left of the players who were part of Barca during the struggles of Nunez and Gaspart and there is some element of fortune he was still around to see the turnaround since those times. It really makes you think how big a waste it would have been if he was let go...he wouldnt have become what he became and we certainly wouldnt be the teams we become either.

Not just for barca fans, any football fan should miss watching him. Fair to say he was one of his kind and there are not many if at all like him. Most likely won't be in the future either.

Best midfielder i have ever seen, despite not playing much this year he still managers to make fools of much younger and fitter opponents.

There was a game this year where he was hounded by 3 players to the point they was basically hanging off him and he still managed to twist and turn around them and break through and make a pass.

Legend gets thrown around too often but for him it's more than justified.

I loved puyol. he was the cara of barca. other players had more talent. but push come to shuve. they could beat the best of them.

would be nice to see him return as a staff member of some sort work his way through the ranks to one day be the manager for us.

Amazing player but he messed up when he didn't join Milan. Biggest mistake of his career, IMO. :coffee:
