Rockbreakers and the Stormbird are the toughest fights in the game and it's not close.

Rockbreakers are not bad once you stop it's ability to dive underground but the tricky part is getting there Laughing

As it's not easy to do that at all, just because of how fast they constantly dive so you don't have much time to knock the parts off as long as one their claws/legs can dive they can still do it.

Stormbirds weren't that hard, at all after I unlocked the Lodge ropecaster and Blastsling Razz Rockbreakers are just a pain in the ass. Not only do they dive constantly, but diving removes their status effects, timed bombs and everything. That corrupted area with 2 rockbreakers was pretty annoying.

yeah rockbreakers are tedious, the 2 corrupted ones were the first time I came across them, even on easy I ran away..straight into a nearby convoy with Behemots, they wrecked them for me ffs. Thankfully you only fight them about 4-6 times throughout the game.

You can't get the armour before one of the very last story chapters, anyway.

The more I play this, the more it feels like a Witcher 3 spin off lmao. Can see why Mole loves it so much.

Pretty much everything has resemblance to TW3 in one way or another.

There are a lot of resemblances.

From enemy strength and weaknesses so you have to use different things to beat different monsters. ( or machines in this case)

Side quests which extend from the main story and give overall depth to the characters and the story itself. ( Witcher 3 is clearly better at this though)

Even the Witcher senses stuff has been adapted and streamlined to be easier to use and quite frankly better.

It has done certain things better though and clearly learnt from Witcher 3, the controls are miles better, more responsive and the world is better populated with things that can kill you and the enemy design when it comes to overall AI and varied attacks are much better.

If there's one thing i'd like to see a sequel to Witcher accomplish is smoother and more responsive to control, populate the world with more monsters and have those monsters have more varied attacks.

I mean the Thunderjaw has laser guns, a disc launcher, tail whip, a *bleep* UAV so it knows where you are etc etc.

Gameplay is better because of the engine and also because it's not as rich or dense as TW3 was. TW3 probably had 5 times more objects to render and a lot more animations nevermind the world map was one of the biggest ever.

Disagree on the sidequests. I am really not interested in most of them in Horizon. They feel hollow and without any depth to them. Most are essentially to clear out the machines and investigate the area and to track someone. Sidequests in TW3 all felt unique and some often better than the main quest aims.

Main quests are great though.

I mean they are not as good as Witcher 3s obviously but I felt like they were quite deep compared to most games.

I think they tried to pretty much take the Witcher 3 template from them but their quest designers are not as talented as CD Projekt Red's but honestly I don't think anyone is.

The idea is really good. But they relied way too much to copy TW3. I mean their devs openly talk about how much they admire TW3.

It worked though. Game has made great profit and the reviews, reaction etc is all positive

but I hope the sequel does a lot of things different.

I have said this but I felt like the uniqueness of the story, setting and lore combined with the vast variation of machines who each have lots of different attacks was enough even if they admittedly took from other games too.

Those things help it be it's own thing, while adapting things from other games.

I agree that they should add more of their own ideas in general though, I just think there's enough there which makes it feel unique.

Tonnes of potential in any future game though, wonderful world with tonnes of lore with great moment to moment gameplay and potential new machines is exciting.

there weren't that many sidequests in Horizon tbh so they could get away with them being better than most, which is what they were. You had like 4-5 sidequests in Meridian and 1 in every decently sized settlement you encountered, but very few of them were that interesting compared to the main plot, but they weren't really fetch quests either.

TW3 was GOAT because it had hundreds of side quests and they all felt meaty.

I don't think the comparisons with TW3 are any more warranted than ones with Assassins Creed, only similarity to me is the tracking with the focus which is basically just eagle vision in Assassins Creed anyway.

I guess what's that what I mean, they were legitimate quests and not fetch quests.

A lot of them extended from the main quest is what I meant with the Witcher comparison obviously they weren't as good but the template is quite similar.

honestly as much as I enjoyed Horizon it can't hold a candle to TW3 for me and I wouldn't really compare them anyway, combat is completely different, it's more in line with Assassins Creed and other open world action adventures, okay TW3 is that but it's first and foremost hardcore RPG territory like Bioware games.

Yea it definitely doesn't hold a candle to TW3 eventhough I like it a lot

Tracking focus reminds me a lot of detective mode from the Arkham games lol. Combined with Witcher sense.

Comparing the template and style doesn't mean I think it's anywhere close to Witcher 3 lol.

Also the other comparison is the fact each machine has strengths and weaknesses and you have to use different equipment to exploit it's weaknesses and protect against its strengths.

That's Witcher 3, not Assassins Creed.

Again because it's implementing ideas from the best game of this gen doesn't mean I'm comparing them quality wise.

saying it doesn't hold a candle to TW3 is not really an insult though lol, there are probably 3-5 games that I think can that I've played period. I'm not sure if I liked Horizon more than Nioh but I expect both to end up in my top 3 by the end of the year.

one of the reasons this comparison is lost on me is probably because I didn't have to deal with any of that on easy rofl besides taking certain potions

I will rectify it by playing Blood and Wine on hard after I finish Persona 5

Not saying it's an insult hmm

I'm not comparing them quality wise tbh, it's just quite clear it's a game which has implemented ideas from that game.

Just like it has implemented ideas from the likes of Tomb Raider and Far Cry too.

You are a pos

You haven't played witcher 3 unless you have poisoned yourself after overdosing on potions while trying to use signs at the same time as attacking a monster
