he's barely 19 ffs
he looks shit even if the youtube montages lol, there's about as much chance of him being a starter as me
signed as a backup to 35 yr old Valencia and will move to Wolves next summer

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
so as things stand and if rumours are to be believed this is going to be the starting 11
Lingard is hot and cold and only really good through the middle IMO
Sanchez was absolutely garbage last season, remains to be seen if he can bounce back but I wouldn't count on it, thus he's dead weight
Mina..Yerry *bleep* Mina, can parallel park a Truck before he can turn around and make it back from a corner
Questions over Fred but I'm confident he will deliver..the one promising signing of the window.
Depth we're okay on but honestly I'd love to sign a backup striker..I honestly think Arnautovic will happen at the end of the window. He's kinda versatile and I'd take him as a backup, although anything more than 25m is madness.
Either way, don't expect anything from us this season..especially under Mou, besides a top 4 finish. Sad!

Fred Matic Pogbito

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
We were very solid at the back last season, although helped in part by Mou's penchant for parking in games and content to grind out a point. But Valencia and Young are a year older and they have to breeak down sooner or later, Valencia already offers pretty much nothing besides a steady hand and seniority. Dalot isn't going to be breaking into the first time. Really disappointing we haven't signed a first choice fullback tbh. That and a RW should absolutely have been priorities this summer.
I'm convinced this season we'll be worse defensively. just think the fullbacks have been playing at 150% the last two years and that will change
Smalling is Smalling, solid but prone to the odd clanger and Mina..whew. Pls. Wish Mou would trust Bailly.

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
That United side will struggle for goals, imo.
A lot will depend on Sanchez's role. He's a ball magnet that usually takes the most touches of the ball in any team he's in and attempts the most passes into the penalty area. This can be dangerous if you've got targets in the box to benefit. Lukaku is a given, but Lingard isn't and Rashford is still a way short of being a prolific scorer.
So ideally you'd want Sanchez to be more like a forward making runs and Pogba to be the creator, but it seems like Sanchez is going to be asked to play both roles. He can do it, but he's going to have to be at his very best to make that work.
At least the midfield is looking pretty solid. Matic is a reliable DM, Pogba is Pogba and Fred, from what I've read on him, is good at cycling possession around and getting the ball to more creative players.

How many of Ed Woodward's signings have actually been successful?
after last season is it fair to say maybe just Lukaku?

Matic, Pogba and Lukaku
so basically all of the major ones, unless we're writing off Sanchez after 4 months

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
He has more flop than top signings
Martial, Di Maria, Falcao, Depay, Blind, Darmian, Lindelof too(?)
Mata, Fellaini, Bailly, Pogba etc have all been ok-ish. Neither top nor flop.
Zlatan was a good signing until the unfortunate injury. Lukaku is proving to be a good signing too.

Jose must give chances to Martial, because he could add the bit of flair that their team needs. I've never seen Fred play, but my understanding is he's not a creative midfielder. No need to have both him and Matic. Put Lingard in midfield and Martial in attack and it's a decent team if it can defend well - like it probably can under Jose.

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
Nobody would think it's a horrible team, if they were managed by someone progressive who doesn't shackle all it's forwards.
Also the only reason people like Young, Valencia and Lingard are important players is because of Mourinho. They wouldn't start under anyone else.

It's terrible and Woodward is at fault. 'we can do things in the transfer market other clubs can only dream about'. Their transfers this summer were Fellaini on a 2 year contract and a Brazilian midfielder from Ukraine who couldn't start over Paulinho in the world cup.
Meanwhile the best coach in the world has signed a 60m RW backup, after spending 300m last season on defenders and is the best thing since sliced bread.

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
I think a lot of people in here are sleeping on United. It's not a flashy team, sure, but they know what they're doing, for the most part, and have some decent players while the role players aren't bad, either, as long as you don't expect too much of them.
People have become far too obsessed with this summer's transfer window, imo. I think a lot of the signings will be underwhelming.

Re: Manchester United Part V/Ole Sack Watch
Mou realized he had the worlds best young CB already
Bailly, like a new signing
im shocked we were never even linked with any RW's in the window
I hope Martial is given more chances and actually delivers
only way I won't be insanely disgusted is if him and Sanchez had decent seasons on each wing
otherwise it's Lingard/Mata ffs

There's no way Sanchez will have a good season. The guy is spiritually finished and emotionally disturbed.
