zigra wrote:Surprised about the rave reviews. Not that it's an average or even bad (superhero) movie, it's pretty good and I liked it, but I didn't think it was anything special. Would rate it 7.5/10. Maybe I'm getting to used to that kind of movie
Same here. Went in with a lot of expectations. Came out disappointed. Solid movie but definitely not better than Winter Soldier for me.
Too many characters and lot of the points used to criticize BvS could also be used here.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Michael B. Jordan is joining Black Panther. He was the fan cast for the character in the first place basically. So good to see him get a change in a legit superhero movie, in a different role though.
Role is thought to be the villain as of now.
Coogler and MBJ
Most anticipated Marvel movie now. Maybe most anticipated superhero movie atm.

Isn't villain gonna be Andy Serkis's Ulysses Klaw?

He's probably gonna be small time. Most movies also have multiple bad guys.

He shouldn't be small time. He is Black Panther's greatest foe. Maybe they are saving him for BP 2.

Well.... they certainly can't make it any worse than the first one.
They should just get Bryan Singer to do it tbh

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Watched Civil War. One of the best comic book films I've ever seen and my #1 of the MCU.
I binged First Avenger and Winter Soldier yesterday and I say the Captain America series is the best superhero series after Nolan's Batman.

I liked The First Avenger more than Winter Soldier tbh. Before CW appeared it was my favorite MCU movie after IM1 and Avengers

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Also after watching it again I really don't understand the DC hate on the visual aesthetics etc. because Marvel's film, or at least these Captain America films have no colour at all. Like really. It's so grey and it's got no visual style at all. It looks like a tv production.
Guardians looked special in that regard. The first Thor also had some. Apart from those I really think it's awful how grey and cheap those movies look.
I don't know if it's because they have to churn out these movies sooo fast and don't have time for the visual style, but it really bothers me to see something that looks cheap.
Spider-Man, Black Panther and Ant-Man are still GOATs and hold up. There's so much joy every time they're on screen. I really think Coogler can add some visual style to his movie.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
20th Century Fox is moving forward with its long-awaited X-Force film, and X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has shed some light on what direction the movie may take in regards to Wolverine.
In an interview with Erik Davis at Fandango, Singer confirmed that he's discussed with the studio what will happen with Wolverine after Hugh Jackman retires the claws for good, and even suggested featuring Logan's female clone X-23 in Fox's X-Force film. "I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female," he said.
While Singer was careful to note that he's currently only involved at the idea level, he did confirm that X-Force "is in the earliest script stage" at the hands of X-producer Simon Kinberg, adding, "so that’s kind of where that stands, and we’ll see how it evolves."
The Apocalypse director also said that he "absolutely" sees a future in which the X-Men, X-Force, Deadpool and New Mutants can all star together in what would be Fox's darker take on an Avengers-eque film, saying, "If the tone can still maintain itself, I’m all for it. What I’m not for is throwing a bunch of characters together and hoping it works."

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Civil War just worked, it worked for me on all levels. It was Avengers 3, Captain America 3, Iron Man 4, Ant Man 1.5, Spider Man reboot, Black Panther origin and all of it clicked. What impressed me most about the Russos and has me optimistic on Infinity War is how well they handled multiple characters. Everyone got good roles to play, from Captain to Hawkeye to War Machine. Spider-Man, Ant Man and Black Panther were the show stealers (I would add Falcon to it too) but man, RDJ reminded me that he is one of the best actors in the world. But still, I went in Team Cap and left Team Cap
Airport fight scene was great action but the final fight was really well done too. Them emotions ffs. Also the villain is in the argument for best MCU villain. Loved Daniel Bruhl's Zemo and looking around most places, I'm not the only one. They did not kill him of, they might have Zemo and the Thunderbolts for Avengers 4.
My criticism of the film stems from my comic knowledge mainly.

- Spoiler:
- Crossbones as opening fodder villain like Baron Stucker What a waste.
Black Panther's origin is Zemo (framing Bucky) killed his father? In the comics Klaw killed his father and Black Panther tears of his arm. It made their rivalry really personal but here Ultron tears Klaw's arm and Zemo kills T'chaka
Speaking of Zemo, kinda bummed we did not get the purple masked Nazi-Hydra sword wielder. But he was great. Hope to see more of him in the future.
Yeah in the comics, Captain dies at the end of Civil War. Knew it wouldn't happen here, hope Thanos kills him and Bucky takes the mantle. We need some serious deaths in the MCU.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
So Zack Snyder has been fired as head of DC films.
Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will lead the creative direction. Geoff Johns knows the characters, so it's good.
