De Bruyne is the worst 80M€ player out there

I watched United - City and was shocked by how poor De Bruyne is. A player who can't drible anyone if he is not running full speed, with a poor pass and only makes inevitably intercepted ground crosses. He reminded me of Di Maria when he forgets how to pass, but without being able to drible.

I guess he looked good in the Bundesliga with tons of space and running full speed in counterattacks, like the goal he scored vs Sevilla, but in a tight match he is useless.

Martial was twice the player although he was playing out of his supposed best position.

I also watched Sevilla's game and he was better but only because there were tons of space. Shocking for an 80 milion player. If he was playing for Madrid, he would get killed. Bale was killed and never was as poor as De Bruyne.

Sterling was 60M€ while de Bruyne almost 80. Also, I gather that Sterling was signed for potential being 20, while de Bruyne should be a finished product at 24.

Ozil never went for this kind of money, and he is a very good footballer. He has other weaknesses but twice De Bruyne's talent.

So its de bruyne's fault City paid 80m for him ? He is great player and probably not worth the transfer fee but which player is worth his fee nowadays?

De bruyne is quality. He just had an off day yesterday thats all and Rojo was on top of his game (as he is that kind of a player who can boss even the best players on his day and the next day can turn to utter shite even against mediocre players)

I don't think anyone ever thought De Bruyne was an 80m player. The German media was 90% "OMG 80 million for Wolfsburg!" and only 10% "Poor Wolfsburg losing de Bruyne" as well. Of course that was brilliant business, anything above 25 to 30m was hilariously overpaying.

He's not bad, mind you, but oh lordie those EPL expectations, gotta love it.

Edit: To be clear; De Bruyne is very, very good, and even good enough to be a key player in a top team's offense. I just think that 80m price tag makes people think he's like two Özils, or like 90% Messi, which he's not.

A transfer fee has nothing to do with the quality of a player tbh. Its just a matter of supply and offer.

It doesn't have nothing to do with it, as it drives demand; but yeah, quality doesn't do much to influence supply; meaning:
Better players are more expensive.
But players that are offered on transfer windows where there's few players on offer, are even more expensive yet.
