Darker Than Black is one of the best animes ever made
Can't believe no one told me about this, not a peep, makes mad that such a series isn't held up as highly when people. Bring their top 10 lists. Meanwhile, not a day goes by without someone mentioning Boku No Hero on twitter or how its better than the big 3. Starting to hate that space with the amount of reaction gifs infested from the show.
Anyways, I really want to watch S2 but i don't want to taint this memory of it.

we mentioned it here years ago and I think Season 2 tainted it in a lot of peoples eyes, but yeah, season 1 is one of the best action anime around.

that's a mistake because One Piece is truly a fantastic Anime.Betty La Fea wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:Big 3 is the "Naruto, Bleach, One Piece" era

in many ways, all of them are, their highs were as good as any animes. they were popular because they were great, they did a lot of fan service and defined a generation.
Bleach was a masterpiece in its first few arcs but then was rushed and became unbearable to me.
Naruto is king of fan service, although it became repetitive towards the end and i could not stand the "friendship no jutsu" anymore.
My all time favourite is One Piece, still going strong, has been phenomenal since day one and does almost everything great. Great story (typical shonnen) but great great characters development, a ton of different characters, designs, storylines within the main storyline, the fights are pretty cool, the power ups are not crazy and stay fairly reasonable as well (Not like Ichigo pummeling Aizen one day and then struggling against some scrubs in the next arc, last power BS).
I just hope the writer stays in health to finish the manga, and hopefully he doesnt get rushed and ruins the end like they did for Bleach

Watched Gurrenn Lagann on Netflix.
First I was like wtf is this shit, maybe I would have enjoyed it if I was 10 years old.
But it kept getting better and better. Great coming of age shonen.

Re: Manga and Anime
TTGL
I was around when that was airing and it was basically Code Geass before Code Geass in terms of everyone hyping it
ended up dropping it halfway through, it's already old AF, crazy
if you liked it you should watch Kill La Kill, think most of the staff that worked on TTGL worked on that and it's similarly as crazy apparently, never watched it but ppl hyped that too
been watching some anime that just started airing called Kokkoku, has a pretty awesome premise but it could turn out to be meh

Re: Manga and Anime
Watched Kill La Kill on Netflix after your recom.
Was meh, but then got elevated by a pretty good twist. TTGL was much better though.
Started Darker Than Black on Amazon Prime but then remembered that I did see it The series name in my head is Chinese Electric Batman thanks to all the memes. It was great, and yea like Psycho Pass had a BS second season.

Re: Manga and Anime
So I finally finished Fairy Tail manga. 11 years. Hard to believe I have followed a manga for 11 years ffs
And the final two arcs were the worst piece of shit i have ever read in my life. It's a meme series in the end.
Can't believe what started as a good, funny and interesting series ended up becoming fan service and ass pull series. Mashima got so bored of it that he started using the same dialogues in every chapter
"I can't lose. I have the power of friendship"
Not a single character died in the end. Asspull after asspull. No logic. What a waste of time.
Series went to shit after the grand wizard tournament (like 4-5 years ago or so).
Trash series mostly but still thankful that Mashima wrote this ffs.

Re: Manga and Anime
I met up with a childhood friend a few weeks ago. He used to be a member of these forums and he's into the whole manga/anime thing. I thought it was a funny coincidence that I'd run into him all of a sudden, as CB happened to mention him recently in the talk about whatever thread, and that was the first time I'd seen him in several years.
He once told me to watch the show, Death Note, which I thought was pretty good. This time, he told me to check out Hunter x Hunter. I couldn't be arsed to download it and I thought he was being annoyingly persistent when he insisted that I should borrow his external hard drive lol.
Anyway, I've been glued to my computer for about a week now. I'm 80 episodes into the series and it doesn't seem to be slowing down, at all. I'm sure all of you are familiar with it already, but if you aren't, I definitely recommend watching it.

Yea HxH is great. Gets even better.
I'll read Kubo's new series because he is capable of great things. But all of these will flop most likely.

Re: Manga and Anime
Damn i didnt even know FT ended, went and just read the last chapter.
@Thimmy yeah HxH is one of the best - if not - best shonen.
Speaking of old series, I rewatched Avatar The Last Air Bender, and i legit don't thinkany anime/TV show comes close to it. It the best of all time in my opinion, Zuko had the single best character development of any fictional character ever, brought me to tears the first time i watched his transformation.
Can't believe its been almost 15 years

Re: Manga and Anime
I rewatched Last Airbender last year too and it is a masterpiece. So much shows can learn so much about character development, supporting characters and filler episodes from that show.
Legend Of Korra is great in its own right too. Especially the last two books.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica turned out decent. The first two episodes are terrible though. Its regarded as Urobuchi's masterpiece but I prefer Psycho Pass.

Re: Manga and Anime
speaking of which, there's going to be a new Psycho Pass 'project', there are some teasers that got released the other day. Sadly not a new series, but 3 movies. One of them is a prequel featuring Masaoka (old detective) from the first season. It's something at least. Not very hyped after the second season and the movie from a couple years ago. First movie isn't out until Jan 2019.
